I am looking at purchasing a Glock 30 from the local FFL sometime soon for concealed carry.

I am asking for user reviews/experiences of this pistol and I would like to know what price is fair/what it's purchase price was that the user bought it for. The local FFL has one in stock for $590 without the night sights. Is this a fair price?

Let me know what your experience has been. Thanks!

I have the G30 SF...basically the exact same thing minus 3mm of grip...absolutely an excellent firearm. 10+1 of 45ACP should do the trick should you ever need it, but if you live in a free state (I live in MA) you can get G21 13 rounders as reloads if you so desire (I'm pretty sure, anyways). Recoil is extremely manageable for such a small weapon, and it is probably more accurate than almost any shooter. Mine is just about as accurate as my 1911 out to about 15 or 20 yards, and then the 1911 does take over a little bit, but at defensive ranges inside 10 yards you're good to go, and I have heard people claim that it is one of the most accurate Glocks. Not really sure how this can be measured, but personally I shoot it much better than the others I've tried other than the 21 SF, which is basically just the bigger version of the same gun. It has been 100% reliable with anything I have put through it, although I only have about 1000 rounds through it so far.

Some find it a little big for their hands, so make sure you hold it and stuff before you buy it (maybe even shoot it if you have a chance).

As far as carrying it goes, I carry mine whenever I can, and I have not had a problem with concealing it in my Blade Tech Nano IWB holster. It is a little on the wide side compared to some others (1911s etc.), but I just put it at about 5 o'clock or so instead of directly on the side of my hip and it pretty much disappears. You can also get 9 round mags that don't have a 3rd finger rest that can make the grip that much smaller and thus make the gun that much more concealable (I don't use them, at least yet, as I find it to be fine with the 10 rounders).

As far as price goes, I can't really speak too much because the problems between Glock and the Mass AG keep us from being able to buy new Glocks at our FFLs. If you want to check though, check out budsgunshop.com...they usually have some good prices on most everything apparently because they do pretty good volume, and if you found a (substantially) better price (and live in a free state), you can probably buy it from bud's and have it transferred through your FFL.

The only other gun I would look at in the same area would be the M&P 45 compact...they're proving to be excellent guns, and it is just a little bit smaller/slimmer I believe, and is a good option if Glock ergos aren't your thing, and I think they can be had with a thumb safety if you would feel safer with that option. I've heard good things about the Kahr line, but I have no experience with them, so I can't really say. If you have a little more change to burn you can check out the HK45c, but its a pretty different animal (DA/SA etc.) and it's not the smallest compact out there.

In the end though, you won't go wrong with the G30-it's just an overall great gun.

Purchased a G30 new in 2007, paid $550 for it (no night sites). I totally love the gun. Its probably my best shooter. I am very accurate with it and the recoil feels less than my G26. It pushes more than snaps, less impact on my hand (if that makes sense).

I don't carry it much, as its a bit big and rely more on the G26. But I have done it and its fairly comfortable (IWB with a Galco Summer Comfort at 4:00). I have been thinking of wearing it more.

I don't think the price is outrageous.

Good....any more user experiences?

I think that the price is a little out there...

Especially because if I go through Bud's Gun Shop....it's right around $550 shipped and then I'd have to only pay the PICS background check fee, which is $30...So, like $580 total.

The local guy is going to end up costing me like $710.....

I'm all about supporting the local FFLs....but I'd be saving $130 if I go through Bud's.....and $130 is big difference to me.

$103 is a big enough difference for most anyone I would say...maybe if you mentioned to your FFL that you had found another price that was lower etc. they might think about matching it or even going a bit lower to make a point. Whatever the case, though, a Glock (30) is a Glock (30) so personally I would go with the one that will save you the hundred bucks, even though ideologically I would much rather have the one from my FFL than from some company I found on the internet.

I've got a pair of 30s, can't say enough good about them. It took me a while to warm up to the combination, once I did it became my favorite model of Glock.

I love my new 30 SF! I find the recoil easier to control than my G22 (less snappy, faster recovery time) and don't give up any mag capacity (at least here in CA). It cost $605 before tax with fixed polymer sights. I also recommend the Pearce pinky rest.

Glock 30 ?

I have fired 2 Glock 30s ,one ported and one without. Seems the guns are as easy to hit with as the 21 or my 22 40cal. that I traded, even though the 21 is known for it's accuracy. Also recoil is low for a compact gun that's .45 ACP .

Great pistol. It *can* take the G21 13 round mags as well.

I have a G30 and a G36.

The G36 is noticeably smaller and easier to carry, but has fewer rounds and frankly gave me FTF trouble when brand new but never gave me trouble after its first good cleaning.

I carry the G36 because of the size difference but if the size didn't bother me the G30 is clearly a better running gun with significantly more ammo capacity.

I would suggest you simply try wearing the G36 and G30 and see what you can tolerate.

Be careful about seating fresh mags- more than once I've seen someone catch their skin between the frame and the new magazine.
