I am going to also purchase a .solid automatic handgun in a high caliber with hi-capacity and choosing between a glock .357 sig and a high cap para ordnance .45. I wanted to get some feeback from some of the experts that no doubt are on this site. The reason for this is home defense.

I have wanted a .357 Sig in the past but, have found that I would much rather have a .45 ACP. Much more practical in the availability of ammo and more gun selections!

I like both choices ...and you won't go wrong with whatever you decide. I would recommend the 45 given your criteria . Home defense is going to be indoors and sans ear protection the last round I would want to touch of is a 357 sig. The round is super -sonic and as such is much louder than the "slow" 45-assuming a normal pressure round.

Just my 2

I had the Para in full size light weight. Only issue was the size and weight. It is not an easily concealed gun. I sold it and Bill is happy with it. He has it in a safe.
It is and was ver acurate. It could be caried in a Galco Miami Classic if the shoulder holster is your bag or good Milt Sparks with a good gun belt a jacket would be a must.
I have a Glock 27 in 40 , you already saw the post on barrels. The 27 offers you sub compact size to carry and if need be there are sleves available so the large capacity mags can be used comfortabily. Similar to the XD options.
The glocks carry nice in the Milt Sparks too I like the summer Special.
Good luck in your choice, I did hit better with the P 14 Para.

Not a big fan of ParaOrd, so I would choose the Glock. The quick swap to .40 is a plus too. .40 ammo is a lot cheaper than .357 Sig.

Glock 31 is what I would choose. But then I love Glocks... Not a big fan of high cap 1911s. Why not a Glock 21SF? Not that the .357 sig is a bad caliber or anything, just curious why a 1911 in .45 or a Glock in .357...

I currently own 3 Para .45s - two full size, one Carry 12. Love 'em all. The Carry 12 is one of my regular carry guns.

Glocks don't feel right to me ergonomically - but that's a personal thing, and I know it. Otherwise, they're good guns and the .357 Sig is a good round for self defense. If you can, try and shoot each model before deciding.
