Guys please clear something up for me. Glock makes the 31 in .357 caliber. That's .358 sig right and not .357 magnum, correct?

Thanks!

^ why, just because the folks at Magnum Research decided to make a semi-auto pistol that chambers it (sometimes)?

Why does someone always feel the need to point out the odd-ball exception to "prove someone wrong"?

.40 S&W case necked down to 9mm.
Sort of, but not quite. 357SIG brass isnt made from necking down .40 brass. There are differences in the case itself too.

All the power of a 9mm +P, with the capacity of a .40
More like +P+ 9mm for a closer, more similar comparison to generic 357SIG loadings. The 9mm is maxed at the +P+ point and probably never going to be any hotter, where the 357SIG just getting started, and is loaded hotter by some makers, and more into true 125 grain, 357MAG power ranges. Does it really matter? I dont know. I suppose thats up to the individual. These days, I tend to gravitate to 17+ rounds of +P+ 9mm over 12-15 rounds of 357SIG myself.

So I guess the Desert Eagle shoots .357 Magnum pistol cartridges??
As did (and possibly does again, or so rumor has it) Coonan.

That always seems to be the big thing when the 357SIG discussion comes up. Many feel the need to put down the round down for some reason. You rarely hear complaints from those who have them though.

I have a 31, and a number of SIG's in the caliber. All are good shooters, but the SIG's seem to handle it a little better than the Glock, and in a couple of respects.

The way the gun reacts when shot is noticeable between the Glock and SIG, with the Glock being somewhat "snappier". I'm assuming its due to the difference in weight between them.

The Glock does carry a couple more rounds in comparable sized guns too.

With both the Glocks and SIG's, you can swap barrels for different calibers pretty easily. The Glock offers more variety with less trouble and cheaper prices here. If you want 9mm, the SIG's are a little more involved, and the barrels are a little pricier too.

As a possible downside with the Glocks (and it may really be nothing), the underside of the side on my 31 is getting beat up from impacts with the loading block in the frame. I've been told its normal with the Glocks in 357 and .40, so I'm not to concerned at this point. My 9mm Glocks dont show the same wear though, and my SIG's dont seem to be affected in any manner so far either.

I have a P229 in .357SIG. My comment was more tongue-in-cheek than serious complaint, and I agree, for that round even the Glock 31 wasn't that much fun. For some reason I actually like shooting the 10mm better in the Glock.

Thanks gents. I haven't reloaded and shot in over a year. I was kicking the idea of a purchasing a new glock and on the Glock website, I saw .357. I'm not a fan of .357 sig. but I'm a huge fan of .357 magnum (for a revolver).

Thanks again for all of the input.
