I am Looking for a concealed carry piece. Been surfing a little on Glock`s web page and the 33 and 36 or very close in specs to each other. My question is why would I choose one over the other?

Well size for one I dont think they make a FF 5 round mag for the 36. And of course caliber. I've never liked the capacity of the 36.

I generally prefer a .45, but in Glocks I'd rather have a 9mm....personal preference....but for a CCW in Glock, it's hard to beat the model 26 - easy to shoot (strong or weakhand), easy to find ammo for, easy to clean and maintain - just plain easy...and when a CCW is easy to use it's just that much easier to be effective with. Of course, some will say the same for other calibers and models as well...so you see, it's all personal preference after it's been determined to be adequate for it's intended purpose...;)

Happy Pistol Hunting ! :)

I would say the 36 because it is a .45 a.c.p. it is a military round and has alot more punch then that .357sig. I prefer the 30 because you can change mags with the 21. In case you need the extra power later on.

How big are your hands.......

I like Glock 36 because I have short fingers and cannot get a straight pull on the trigger of a double stack Glock....buy the gun that fits you the best......chris3

Get the 36, the .357 sig glocks are very hard to manage recoil.

Think follow up shots.

But if I was you, and you absolutely want a glock, but hate 9mm, go with the 23 in .40 cal.

13 rounds of .40 S&W is no joke, and about the same size as the 36.

Personally I own a G33. (I also carry a Gov't 1911, I switch to the Glock during the muggy summer months)

I've seen better results on hard target penetration with the .357 sig (think a hotter 9mm load) granted that was with +P ammunition. I always figure that the BG's will be doing what I'm doing. Fighting thier way toward cover. So I got to find a way to get around or through that.

Another minor reason is I like how the G33 accepts the full size Magazines from the G31. I typically carry the G33 with one in the pipe, and a G31 Mag in my pocket (25 Rounds) you can even up it by a +2 with Pierce Mag Grip Extenders (I took mine off for me they made it just a little bit harder to conceal).

If you are set on the .45 I'd go with the G30 so you can feed it from G21 Mags. Yes the G36 is slimmer but for 4mm I'd go with 9+1 (and fullsize mag ability) instead of 6+1 Just my .02

I've had both (and I no longer have either - Glocks just aren't aesthetically pleasing enough for me). They're really not similar at all, though - I think you need to either go back to the books or go physically compare the two models.

The G36 is considerably bigger than the G33. It's almost the size of the G32/23/19. It is flatter, though, but it's not nearly as small as the subcompacts.

The G33's muzzle blast was pretty amazing. The recoil isn't the problem, it's the concussion from the magnum-pressure round throwing that light bullet out the front superfast, along with the associated powder burning outside the short barrel. People would always come over and ask what the heck I was shooting when I fired the G33 (I bought mine when they first came out in the mid-/late-'90s, so it attracted a lot of attention since no one had experienced the .357 SIG's blast before).

The G36 is very pleasant to shoot - much more so than a micro-compact 1911-type.

Both guns worked well. I had some issues with primer crud blowing back into the G33's striker channel under the high pressure of the .357 SIG rounds, which necessitated cleaning the striker channel (no big deal, but it's not part of standard maintenance acc. to Glock) every 200 rounds to prevent light strikes. The G33 fed like a dream - you're shoving a 9mm pole into a 10 mm hole. :)

Anyway, the ammo for the .357 SIG is more expensive - something else to consider.

Hopefully this has given you more to think about. Best of luck with your selection.

the 36 shoots way softer then you would think...I had one and sold it to my bro just cuz I wanted something different...hides easy, holds 7 rounds of 45 cal goodness and will eat anything you put in it...I used 200 +p gold dots and followups were cake
