Finally got my hands on a shiny new Glock 43, and discovered that the pistol (unloaded) fits comfortably into the front left pocket of my Levis. Now, since it's not a terribly tight fit, I'm considering pocket carry. I've heard good things about Desantis and Alabama kydex. Any others? Or what's the preference for those who already do this?

DeSantis (might have butchered that) Pocket Nemesis I believe is the name of a holster a friend of mine uses. Wish I could pocket the 43 easier, but I'm using a DeSantis Pro Stealth. IWB/OWB. Both fit nicely.

I never tried pocket carry. For those who do it, do you practice it on the range? Is it difficult to do from a seated position (like in a vehicle or restaurant)? Of course I'm talking about in the pocket of your pants, not a jacket or something like that.

I do practice trying to deploy my pocket pistol from a sitting position but its not easy and my pistol is one of the smallest nines there is. I'd really like to see someone deploy a Glock 43 from the pocket from a sitting position.

I didn't think trying to get my pocket pistol out while sitting was even a realistic option for a car jacking scenario, that's why I purchased a full-size nine that rides in a Gum-Creek vehicle holster next to my right knee.

I use a pocket holster in my rear pocket with a Kel-Tec P-3AT. The G43 is bigger than I want in a front pocket, but I do use a Clipdraw IWB. I don't carry a Glock this way with a round chambered. In a good holster, or with any other gun yes. I know some will disagree with that decision, but it is my decision and it works for me. It takes 1/2 second longer to get it into action and a round chambered. That is a lot faster than going back to the car or home to get a gun I'm not carrying.

Thanks for the replies. How bulky are these holsters? Specifically the Desantis, Alabama kydex, and BORAII

Another option which I use with my G43 is AIWB in the holster below. It is actually comfortable and easy to get to... Even when seated.

I'm still really sketchy about doing appendix. It just feels wrong to have the muzzle pointing at my privates/femoral area. What holster is that anyway? It may be something I consider now that I've lost a lot of weight and don't have a belly to contend with

It is from Tulster...

I have had some gun/holster combos which aren't comfy AIWB, but this combo works for me. I've driven for 6+ hours with no discomfort and easy access to the gun. The take-away is that this holster works while seated.

I understand the concern with muzzle direction with AIWB, but with the right setup it is safe. The kydex doesn't collapse so reholstering is easy and positive. When holstered the trigger is fully covered and protected.

I don't have a G43, but do have G42 which is pretty close and have both the Superfly and the Nemesis holsters. They are both good, but the Nemesis is less bulky.

I have a cheap Blackhawk pocket holster, got it for my LCP to throw in coat pockets, but it works pretty well in loose shorts with my 43.

Awesome! Glad I went out on a limb and ordered the Nemesis from Midway today. It was $16 so it won't hurt too bad if it's no good

Big difference in size between the two pistols so I'm surprised the holster works for both.

One other pocket carry holster option for the G42 or G43 is Remora. If you don't like the Remora as pocket holster you can carry IWB. I was skeptical of the no clip idea, but the Remora stays put as advertised.

Cross draw or shoulder is a much better option for vehicle or sitting use.

Glock has put out guidance on the use of holsters since the beginning, and has always directed that a hard shell holster with trigger guard protection be used. That is what they also supply. It's not insignificant that a great many ND's are tied to the use of soft holsters that can snag the trigger when putting them in.

Goes to slipping a Glock into your waistband, too, but that poster appears to be aware.

Recluse makes a pocket holster and it's distinctive feature is a trigger block: http://www.recluseholster.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=7&&page=2

They are in leather and also can be had in one sided versions to reduce the size of the holster in the pocket. The folded fabric padded holsters add a lot of bulk which is counterproductive to concealment. Kydex seems the best option but most of the makers bone the contours as if a tight fit was needed, and that makes them print more readily.

As for draw from a pair of jeans, unless they are of the "loose fit" variety, it's a contradiction in wear vs deployment. We balance risk vs fashion and everybody makes their own decision.

There was a similar discussion about the Ruger SR9c and the newer LC9s Pro. Folks asking about pocket carry.

Just because a gun fits in the pocket isn't the key consideration. Getting it into the pocket is a lot easier than getting it out when you need it. I've given up on pocket carry, and will almost always go IWB or belt-slide, nowadays. (If you're in a car, sitting, or just walking, getting to your weapon can be a real challenge with pocket carry.)

I use a kydex trigger guard cover snapped in place that has a parachute cord loop through which I pass my leather belt. I carry my Glock 43 in my right front pocket and when I pull it the cord pulls the kydex cover off the trigger guard at belly button height. I wouldn't dare carry that Glock in my front pocket without the kydex trigger guard cover for obvious reasons.
