I haven't seen this mentioned on THR so I thought I'd make everyone aware. Both of my G43 magazines have been hanging up in the mag well upon insertion. After running 120 rounds through mine today it appears the inside of the mag catch scrapes along the right side of the magazine. One of my magazines had a chunk of plastic taken out of it by the catch.

Function of the action hasn't been effected but trying to reload quickly produces an immediate hangup.

I'm running the pistol and mags down to Smyrna tomorrow. Hopefully I'll know something by tomorrow night.

The one I shot had the same problem the owner told me it's a known issue. Also thAt it can be fixed with a little file work.

Well that is why I wait a bit before buying the newest hottest gun.

Oh, I intend on getting a 43, but I'll let others do the R&D for me!

Same reason you don't buy a new model car. Let the bugs get worked out first.

If your a Glock guy and are excited about this gun go buy it. Glock will stand behind it, or if a minor adjustment cured it no big deal. The gun shoots great, and if you dont carry an extra mag it doesn't matter.

    Edit...

Just contacted the owner and its the mag catching on the mag release. So, he made 2 passes on the MAGAZINE with a file to remove some burrs and it now works perfectly.

    Same here...

I posted the same statements a few days ago and a forum member torn my head off, .
I'm sure Glock USA will refine or modify the new 43s just like the 42s.
I can wait for Xmas or my B day. My no thumb safety Shield 9mm has a comfy home for now, :D .

    Update:

Took the 43 down to Smyrna today. Magazines were beveled around affected area. Inside of magazine catch was also beveled. Everything works fine now. They threw in an extra magazine with a flat base plate for my trouble.

I spoke with an engineer who said they knew of the problem beforehand and requested time to address but higher ups insisted it was fine.

I hope this isn't a sign of things to come for Glock.

Would you care to show some quality images of the work you had done? I would appreciate it.

Glock must have outsourced the manufacture of the 43 to Taurus. ;)

Thats been their modus operandi since 2009-10. Started with MIM, then Gen4 9mm's, etc etc. etc. They are not what they once were..

mine has the same issue. If you push the mag release it goes in fine. Also if you push sideways on the mag as you slide it in

You should check at the Glocktalk forum; apparently this is a very common problem. Easy fix it seems, and Glock is aware of it, so all the Beta testers are doing their job pretty well.

I ran some drills last night, loading and releasing the magazines repeatedly on my Glock 43. No issues encountered. Could it be just a bad batch of magazines? Not sure. I must've loaded and unloaded the magazines like 50 times total. Might not be conclusive yet.

I recently had my Gen3 G-17 armored by one my local gunsmiths. This is a later Gen3 with a 2009 production number. I previously had my Gen4 G-21 armored by another local gunsmith. This G-21 has a late 2013 production number. There were some early problems with the Gen4's. Found this out the hard way, I had an early Gen4 G-22 that needed an ejector upgrade for the "BTF" issue, It was fixed and it ran fine, and the brass flew in the right direction, but I've since traded that G-22 off. But both of the 2 "G's" I still have are inspected and are good to go. Neither guy could validate the notion of any chronic problems with Glocks produced "since" 2009-10.

Just picked up a G43 last night, and both mags that came with it "hang up" if you don't insert them at just the right angle :banghead:

If the Glock 43 has a problem consistent across the board with that model handgun, I classify it along with the Walther CCP as unreliable out of the box. If I want to work on a gun NIB, I'll buy something cheaper than those two.
