Bar Sto advertises that their barrels come with "fully supported chambers" and we all know all the chatter about "unsupported" chambers in Glocks. Here are a Glock and Bar Sto barrel side by side with a .40 cal cartridge in each. Can somebody tell me what the difference is?

The Bar Sto barrel had to be slightly fitted to the slide to work but no work on the throat or chamber was done. This is essentially as-is from the factory. The only difference is not in "support" in the 6 o'clock position but in the amount of play of the cartridge in the chamber. The bullet is noticeably "looser" in the Glock chamber than in the Bar Sto. However, there doesn't appear to be any difference in how much the case is contained by the chamber at the notorious 6 o'clock.

That's weird, because my Glock 23 Bar-Sto barrel is fully supported and looks nothing like the picture.

The Barsto 40SW barrel I had fitted to my Glock 32 (357 Sig) had a chamber that was about .008 tighter than the Glock barrel on my Glock 23 (40SW). The "support" area was similar between the barrels.

The Barsto barrel did not produce the "Glock bulge" in the feed ramp area of the case.

This Bar Sto is a Semi Drop in barrel, but Bar Sto makes no distinction between barrels as far as chamber support is concerned. The chamber is noticeably tighter on the cartridge, but I was suprised that the support at 6 o clock was visibly no different than the Glock barrel.

I did scrounge up a piece of brass fired from the Glock barrel, and one from the Bar Sto. The one fired from the Glock has a noticeable buldge around the case 5/16" from the bottom. The one fired from the Bar Sto has no buldge. This is clearly evident in the picture below (case on the left fired from the Glock barrel).

You suppose this means that the massive amount of info about an "unsupported chamber" at 6 o'clock means little compared to the "tightness" of the chamber? That is the only apparent difference in these two barrels.

The bulge in your pic, is from a loose chamber, its to far forward to be from the ramp area. I say if the cases are not bellied out, shoot your new barrel, and be happy:)
