I was thinking of handloading my new Glock 22, so I started looking it up online to see what was the best load to start at and found that it is a Ford/Chevy thing. But most people that are against reloading the .40 is because of the unsupported chamber in Glocks. This got me looking at all my brass that I have shot and found a bulge in my brass. In almost all of them. It is about 3/4 of the way down the case. Not in the web of the case but in the wall. I think Im going to stick with factory loads for now. But should I call Glock and see if they could send me a new barrel or should I just stay with it? Is it safe? Thanks in advance.

Your barrel is normal, every Glock bulges cases due to the feed ramp extending into the chamber so far.

You don't need a new barrel. Resize the brass properly and you will be fine. The problem lies with people shooting 40s in a Glock, then reloading them, and trying to use the cases in a match grade barrel. Take it from a guy who has shot and reloaded a ton for a Glock 27, 22, and 35. You don't need a bulge remover either. As long as the brass goes back into a Glock, and you stay with safe loads (as with any reloading), all will be well.

thanks. Im going to try to go on the light side of the map. I will defiantly stay within the limits.

Josh, I also reload for my glocks and here what I use for my .40 and .45 I use a under size die from EGW... here are some links and they do remove the bulge http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=882261 http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=289675 http://egw-guns.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=40 and for the low cost or different barrel I chose this route. hope this helps you I also own carbines in the same .cals and these dies ensure than my semi-carbines function without a hitch...

the undersize die is for the 9mm

Reloading .40 S&W that has been fired in unsupported chambers is risky. Especially if it has already been reloaded more than once before. At those pressures you really want a fully supported chamber. If you want to reload forget the Glock in .40. Go with 9mm or .45 in the Glock or move to a different brand.

<Chuckles> Resize it and reload it. If you get a little crease at the bottom of the webbing after resizing, throw it away. Honestly? You'll lose more to loose primers after having been reloaded 8 or 10 times.

After market barrels are no more "fully supported" than a Gen III GLOCK barrel, so forget that noise. If it bothers you, pick up a Lee Factory Crimp Die and make that your final step.

I have reloaded 10s of thousands of .40s shot from and going back into GLOCKs. Keep an eye out from split brass and you will have no worries.

Lee sizing will take the buldge out. Using the lee sizing die goes all the way down so the whole case gets sized. You can always get a aftermarket barrel then you dont have to worry about the buldge and you can shot any type of bullet

Resizing the bulge will weaken the case at that point. I use a fully supported match barrel and don't have to worry about a blowout.
