Discounting or discontinuing?
Two years ago some nitwit on GlockTalk claimed a Glock rep told him Glock was discontinuing Gen 3, wasn't true then, isn't true now.
Are they making as many Gen 3? Or as many Gen 4? Who but Glock knows, and Glock sells pretty much every 9x19 it makes. As far as discounting, Glock has held their dealer cost stable since I received my FFL in 2008. Only removing MAP restrictions on certain models (like the .45GAP).
At my Glock Armorers class ten years ago the Glock rep said:
"Glock will never make a .22. a .380 or a single stack 9mm.... we make LE guns"
"Glock is discontinuing the RTF2 grip texture"
"Glock is discontinuing the "C" models"
All of which was clearly not correct.
Few bought the RTF2 models complaning about the aggressive texture, until it wasn't available and Larry Vickers had them make a run and all of a sudden everone wanted one.
Same with the OD Green frames, didn't sell. Discounted, then discontinued, then desirable. Guess what? Glock makes 'em again.
Gun Marketing 101: tell customers the one of the most popular firearms in the country is being discontinued.
