i have a gen 3 glock 22 with factory night sites, i was going to swap them with the factory sights (not night sights) on my gen 4 glock 26, until i got them field stripped and noticed the front sight on the glock 22 was not the screw in type that i have seen on the other glocks i have done sights on.... can someone sell me what this is? how it would be removed (even if they cant be swapped, just so i know) and if these can still be swapped? looks to me like the answer is no for the front sight, but i dont want to make another assumption.

i am uploading a photo of both the glock 22 and the glock 26. glock 26 being the one with the screw in front sight.

The one on the left is just a typical plastic Glock factory sight.
They melt the bottom to keep them from falling off, much.

You can jerk it off with pliers, and replace it with a screw-on night sight.

But you can't re-use it after you yank it off.
They are a one & done deal.

Front sights are a dime a dozen out there in gun shops, if you don't run into a real Adam Henry running the shop. They replace lots of them with night sights and always have used ones laying around. I just had a local cop come by my house the other night and had lost his. I dug around my shop and had one stuck back in it in just a few minutes. The newer styles with the screws to retain them interchange with the older slides, so no problem.
I couldn't really tell from your pic, but your's looks like it has been melted on the bottom side. For a long time Glock used a front one that had two legs that protuded through the slide with a piece of plastic that you would tap between them and spread the bottom end. If that is the case, you can take a needle and work the small piece of plastic out and remove the sight. This type can be reused also. Good luck

Your 22 front night sight is an older style that is retaned by swaging / flaring the skirt with a tool so it grabs the oval cut in the slide. Think flaring the plunger tube legs on a 1911. Once you remove that sight it is extremely unlikely that you can use it again.
