I have a 22/45 and I want to swap out the factory front sight for a hiviz sight, but the problem is that the screw will not turn no matter how many times I have heated it up or ground screw drivers to fit the screw.

I give up!!!!

So I plan on taking it to a gunsmith to get the screw out. How much should I plan on spending to get this problem resolved? thanks

Have you broken screwdrivers or you just can't get the screw to turn?

If the latter, do you have access to a drill press?

Take a properly fitting screwdriver and smack the screw a couple three times with a hammer to break it loose. The short hex-bits work best, as they transfer more energy to the screw then a long plastic handled screwdriver.

If you have access to a drill-press, chuck up the hex-bit and use the drill-press to hold down-pressure on the driver bit & keep it from slipping up out of the slot while you turn it with the chuck & key.

If you haven't already buggered up the slot, that's what the gunsmith is going to charge you to do.
