After a good day in the field yesterday, I have decided I need to purchase a .22 conversion kit for the G20.

Advantage Arms and Ceiner seem to be the only people making these that I know of.

Does anyone else make one?

Which one is the best for general training and plinking?

What are the general impressions of those of you that have them?

Thanks,

Oh I got the guns, the SO liked the gun enough she is going to make it her HD gun, and I don't like paying $35 a box to get her familiar with it

We blasted 200 rounds of 10mm, and 500 rounds of .22 with a Buckmark (and she will probably get a .22 auto also), but she wants to put a few thousand rounds downrange with the G20, and the only way we can afford that is a conversion to .22LR.

For all those interested she was shooting full power Double Tap loads with 165 gr. Gold Dots, and consistently hitting a SCUBA tank we use as a target at 60 feet. She even got some hits on an old propane bottle at 160 feet with the 10mm. However the Buckmark was where she excelled at 160 feet, with her able to get 9 of 10 regularly with the red dot optic I have mounted.

I believe they are the only 2 choices. I could not tell you which one is better. There are a few other company's that make conversions but not for Glock.

I'd go with Advantage Arms...by what reading I've done on GlockTalk, it seems to be the one most used and recommended...it's the one I'm going to get. I've read on the 1911forum that Ciener was rude to customers concerning warranty work or even trying to talk about it...???

I have an Advantage Arms LE kit for my G27. It is very well made and surprisingly accurate. Reliability is also very good;, but it does fall off some at the 100-150 round mark for me. A quick cleaning of the of the slide's breech face, the extractor, and barrel face clears that right up. Also, I do find the slide lock (take down lever) a little more difficult to operate when removing the conversion slide vice removing the OEM slide; I do have a NY1 trigger and 3.5# connector on my 27 and that might be a contributing factor to this (as it does require a different technique when removing the OEM slide vice that used with the stock trigger setup).
All in all, I am very pleased with it; to the point that I wouldn't mind having a dedicated lower for it:)

Thanks everyone, we have decided on the Advantage Arms LE kit. While Ceiner might be a better known name, I have not seen much good said about them.

I have seen nothing but positive comments about the AA kit, so calling to find a stocking dealer close by today.

BTW I signed up for GlockTalk, and absolutely hate it, like ar15.com it is so full of ads and garbage I can't work through it with ease.

It is good that THR has kept it clean and neat, with easy to find stuff and not just a big online advertisement for the owners.

Good call!!!

I have a Ciener and an AA conversion. The Ciener is more accurate, but INFINITELY fussier. Ciener will give you high capacity mags, and they disassemble more readily, but require more frequent maintenance to work properly. The Ciener wants to be surgically clean and meticulously lubed. The AA is less quarrelsome.

Use ONLY high velocity ammo with your AA kit. Mine likes Remington Golden, but anything doing 1250 FPS or better will function beautifully.

You did the right thing. If ever you have any doubts, I invite you to call JA Ciener's direct line number. After hearing their recorded message, you'll never consider sending them another dime.

I agree . . . but

Good luck finding one very soon. Six month backorder is standard according to most guys I've talked to. Let me know if you find some in stock somewhere. I'll post here if I do, too.

19Glocker, I have dropped a e-mail to AA to see if they have an idea where I can find one. I am also bidding on one Gunbroker, but am about at my limit for a used one with the bids.

The manufacturer has magazines available on it's website, so at least I can get an extra one or two.

I will keep you posted.
Here are the links to places I have tried to find one, in case you want to check on other stuff.

http://glockmeister.com/
http://www.lonewolfdist.com/
http://www.glockworld.com/
http://www.glockwarehouse.com/
http://www.advantagearms.com/

Now if you have links to other Glock sites, please post them for me.

Thanks,

Acera,

I tried all but glockwarehouse.com - even 'Advantage Arms' official dealers on both sides of the KS/MO line (I live around KC). All of them say something like 6 mos backorder. Glockmeister told me they have no idea when they will get more in. Another guy told me that AA claims they're working 24/7.

Other links: topglock.com, impactguns.com, calssportingarmory.com [a guy bought one a week ago, but now out of stock]; allglock.com, and probably any other sites that you can search on the net. My guess is there are 3 options: (1) stumble upon a seller who has not been found yet; (2) buy used and pay too much; (3) wait.

I have an email out to AA too, but I haven't received a reply.

More info . . .

I got an email from a local retail/police supply place and he said they no longer carry AA because of slow delivery. Maybe it's not only the demand.

Last time I asked about them (at Glockmeister) they said AA is a mom & pop operation with no employees. They make them out of their home and are swamped with orders ever since the ammo shortage got serious (Nov '08?).

I took option 2

Option 2 = buy used and pay too much. Found one used (less than 50 rounds through it).
