Glock lower cracked

Just checked my Gen 3 Glock 23.

Mine does not look like that; the plastic is still covering that area. My guess is a molding defect; not a crack per se.

As for what to do, you will have to make that call yourself.

Yeah my 19's plastic is VERY thick there. I understand we are talking about 2 different models and calibers but frankly my 19 looks better built in that area. I would definitely send that back for a replacement frame.

Would everyone be shocked if I said my HK USP has similar "defects".

I'm telling you guys, this is normal.

The GEN4 has a lot more polymer removed from that area to clear that monstrosity of a RSA, so the polymer is thin and flakes off.

completely normal polymer flaking off the steel insert. my gen4 g23 has this as well (as well as many other glocks i've seen, especially gen4).

send the pic to glock, if you're worried about it. they'll tell you the same thing.

It's not damage. If you want, get an exacto knife and cut it all off.

I imagine, if I should enlarge a 10 Megapixel image of any "particular-spot" inside any of my guns or on the edges of visible outer-surfaces, I would find the same kind of things that could be taken as some kind of flaw in any of the quality firearms I own, regardless of whether the subject surface is aluminum, steel, iron, brass, copper, titanium, some kind of polymer, or any other material!

My take on this is that one needs to look at the area (in general) and determine if this particular area which contains such an anomaly is, or is not a critical area with respect to how the gun operates and functions, as a complete unit, and whether said anomaly detracts from the function, usability and/or safety of the firearm in general.

If it is determined upon above-mentioned scrutiny that the subject area is, in fact, a fundamental surface with respect to the function of the weapon and/or any of its component parts, then the weapon should not be fired again until the manufacturer has eliminated any such problem or (the manufacturer) has stated, in writing, that any such anomaly is normal for that particular area and merely represents typical manufacturing techniques and does not, in any way, detract from any function and/or safety in any way shape or form!

I had a similar problem and I emailed the photos showing the precise location and zoomed in on what I questioned was an issue with a pistol and the manufacturer emailed me back stating it was not normal and a new slide was in the mail that day, included was a tyvek envelope to return the defective assembly back to the manufacturer. This was after owning the gun for over two years.

You need to be sure you reach a technician, i.e., someone who is familiar with the manufacture-process of the weapon and all phases of manufacture.

^^give us all a break, will ya? do you even own a glock?

as mentioned before (by everyone), do a google image search on this subject, and your computer will explode.

its normal, glad you like zooming with your 10megapixal camera to find microscopic details that bother you, but stop beating a dead horse.

More often than not, customer service is staffed by people who lack patience for the anal.

Cannot take the truth?
Beating a dead horse?

Play with guns much?

Glock CS is the best in the industry. I had a 23 that I got used and took it to Glock for night sights and my son took his 17 in for the same.

They checked my 23 out and told me the frame was beat up and was likely caused by a weak recoil spring. They kept my 23 and within 2 weeks sent it back to me via Fed-X with a new frame and new springs, all at no charge.

I also took along 15 mags and they rebuilt them while I waited there.

My son only had non drop free mags with his 17 and he took them with him and Glock replaced them with new mags.

here we go again LMAO

what's the truth on this matter (according to you)?

and since you never answered my question, it's obvious you do not own a glock.

you should reserve your advise and arguments to subjects you are familiar with. which obviously is not glock.

(if you're going to stalk my posts, at least offer a valid debate)
