I shot about 60 rounds through my glock 17 today and not one time did the slide lock back after a emptied magazine I used two different magazines by the way... Any Idea why this is happening???

You may be thumbing the slide stop preventing it from engaging the notch in the slide to lock it back without realizing it.

Shoot didn't even think of that Ill have to try it out I was getting really upset... Also I noticed my shots were about 4 inches left of POA...

:evil:Sell it and get a high point.
Don't know if these help but someone posted them awhile back and they seem like they make since. The first shown is the left handed shooter and the one on the Right is the Right handed shooter.

Were you standing while you were shooting, and at what distance were you shooting?

usually when I experience accuracy troubles I shoot from the bench using sand bags or some kind of support. Then I will know for sure if its me or the gun. More often than not it is me and not the gun, or have someone else shoot it to determine that.

Did you use more than 1 mag ? It is also posssible that the mag follower is not properly engaging the slide stop lever. Not likely though that more than 1 mag is bad in that manner. Possible, but not likely.

2 Different mags... Well I used to shoot rifle left handed and pistol left then figured out I feel more comfortable shooting pistol right and then I switched to rifle and shotgun shooting right so I can shoot both sides fairly well but does that chart apply the same way If im shooting right but maybe should be shooting left or what not? I was shooting standing at about 10 yards and then some real close 5 yard drills. This pistol has seen probably around 2000 rounds or so and last time I took it out it was tearing out the x mark and 15 yards...

Replace the slide stop. If it still persists replace the mag followers and springs. They're cheap.

If you are just shooting left it is probably not you, but the sights. Move the rear sight to the right.

Glocks are not know for extreme accuracy as far as I know BUT. I would be more concerned with the manner in which you are pulling the trigger. When pulling the trigger for the shot, hold it to the rear and do not release it until you have the gun recovered from the recoil. Then release the trigger only enough for it to reset and pull it again. Keep your eye on the front sight and repeat. Poor trigger pull is often a factor is pulling shots off target. Another would be not using your dominant eye to sight the gun. Poor or improper grip another. Slide stops do not wear out often. A dirty mag will keep the mag follower from fully raising and engaging the slide stop lever.

I have switched or should I say trained myself "still in the process of" shooting everything completely right handed and right eye dominant... I believe I was "thumbing" the slide release as stated earlier. I will also try to work on my trigger pull as well! thanks!

Glock accuracy is fine... it isn't going to be 4" off I am fairly bad at handguns still but can keep it inside the 8 or 9 ring at 25 yards as long as I do my part... It pretty much goes exactly where you point it.

My point was that they they are not know for accuracy, but they certainly should do better than 4" at 25 yds. They are made to be durable combat guns. And for a combat gun that is reliable I do not think they can be beat. My CZ on the other hand will do under 1.5" at 25 yds. But I would not count on the CZ to function in an extremely dirty environment.

chriso, you can check proper function by first, making sure the pistol is properly cleaned and lubed and the magazines are clean. After cleaning, while the slide is off the frame, check that the slide stop has free movement - it should lift easily and snap back to the frame when released. Also, while the slide is off the frame, take an empty magazine and insert it slowly into the frame checking for proper follower to slide stop engagement, if it engages, reassemble the pistol. ( If they do not engage each other, then the slide stop and/or magazine follower needs replacement.) After reassembling the pistol, you can perform a function check by taking the EMPTY pistol and insert an EMPTY magazine and pull the slide to the rear in a quick manner to simulate a recoiling slide, it should lock open, if not, replace the mag springs. Otherwise, check thumb placement during firing ... ;)

Yeah I already tried the empty mag and what not and it worked So im guessing its just my thumbing not a 4 inch group but 4 inches off to the left but Im also guessing its my technique because last time I went to the range I was punching ragged holes with it... Maybe I was just off my A game haha...

assuming your right handed shooting left can be:

jerking trigger instead of a steady squeeze
tightening fingers
too little trigger finger
anticipating recoil instead of ignoreing it

unfortunatly your if your strong hand thumb is hitting the frame, slide, or slide stop lever, that would make you shoot to the right. probally a combo of things.

keep your left thumb as straight as possible and rotate your wrist so your thumb points straight at the target. (yes, I know its uncomfortable) Keep your right thumb off the gun, set it on you left if you have to.

Don't squeeze too hard. Hold the front and rear of the grip with your right hand, squeeze with your left hand to control the sides of the grip.

don't blade.

(standard combat grip)

two things that i found....

i have been a 1911 shooter longer than any other gun. you know, two thumbs up high and all that. my glock started to act funny when i installed the extended mag release. i had to take it back out, as i was tripping it without knowing. as far as the groups and the offset, when i thought i had a gun problem i would get one of the RSOs to shoot the gun and almost 100% of the time it was me--grip, dominant eye, and STANCE. i also find that if i'm standing on uneven ground i must compensate. oh yeah, if you are watching the target to see where the shots hit, STOP! front sight--press! have a better day.

What does don't blade mean? Also what would the proper site alignment be any pics? Yeah the only reason I have the pistol is for self defense and to carry while hunting I know its just a 9mm but I feel comfortable with it as the biggest threat's here are black bears, cats'n yotes... thanks for all the help guys. I appreciate it!!!
