Well I'm in need of a new set of sights for my Glock 22, any ideas on a good set at a fair price? Night sights would be nice, but I also like the looks of some of the fiber ones out there, athough I worry that the fiber insert might not stand up to holstering and such. That in advance for any advice, the Glock is for the most part used as my glove box pistol, for a lack of a better term, but also gets carried alot when hiking.

When a FO insert fails you still have a steel sight to aim with. The rods are easy to replace and actually hold up well.

It really depends on what you need. Do you allready have a gun for night? Or day? Sights good at night, stink during the day.....at least when compared to day oriented FO sights.

The Warren Sevigny Comp plain rear is my favorite rear Glock sight. 10-8 make a very good rear sight as well. Use only plain rears.

Then choose the right front sight. Dawson FO .110" thin(or thinner if available) for daytime, Dawson .125" wide night sight for night. I'm not sure what heights you need. But a quick Google search around Glocktalk will find them.

I can't really make much use of night sights at night, so I tend to default towards daytime oriented sights.

I just changed my G-29 to Warren-Sevigny competition rear, fiber optic front. Seems to work well. Took it out late this afternoon near sunset with cloudy conditions so it was rather dim lighting, but the front was easy to see. It looked awful tiny in the rather large rear notch, but I still managed to shoot 5" groups off hand at 25 yards, pretty good for me considering the low light. Groups were 2"-3" low which is typical for me and the 29. I'll probably look for a lower front sight. I'll probably also switch to the green FO rod, they show up brighter in cloudy conditions.
I agree with the other poster that even if the FO breaks, you still have a steel front sight secured with a screw, far more rugged than a stock Glock front sight.

sights

This is one of those "personal preference" sight threads.

I would replace the stock plastic sights. You can literally push them out without too much pressure.

I would suggest any sight which is steel & has no sharp edges to snag on clothing.

Night sights? I like them and have them on my carry guns. Many people don't like them although they do stand out on your nightstand :).

I have Heinie straight eight slant pros on my glock 23. Personal choice for me was to have the front sight modified with a white circle painted around the tritium. This lets me see the front sight against a dark target. I also have a big dot front sight on another Glock but need more time to adjust to these.

I don't have much experience with FO sights although a couple friends like them.

Your choice. Try a few. Don't just go for cheap. Get good quality sights.

Contact Dawson Precision, they can fix you up with anything you need. I just replaced my factory G19 sights with Dawsons and they are great. Call and ask for Kathy, she knows her stuff on sights.

I hate to say that I don't know what brand of sights where installed on the pistol, I let a friend at the local sheriffs department use the pistol, he was a ringer at a state competition. While he was using the pistol he installed new night sights, they no longer glow, and after 5 or more years the front came loose and popped off while firing the pistol. I know this was my fault, not checking for tightness, but non the less new sights are needed. At the time the local department would only allow double, or safe action wepones and he was a 1911 guy, so when he asked if he could use my glock it was a no brainer, why wouldn't I let him use it. Thank you for the input.

dbro822 I recently installed a set of truglo's TFO sights on my g23 and so far I like them. They are bright in the daylight and the dark.

I bought a set of trijicon night sights for my glock 23. I don't really have anything to compare them to, but they seem to be really high quality sights.

I like my Mepros, very well made, however,
when I buy another Glock, its gonna keep the factory rear and get an Ameriglo .125" wide tritium front.
I have come to the conclusion that there is no real point to a 3 dot night sight setup because you are not gonna line them up anyway in an SD situation.
I like the idea if a thin front sight for more accuracy at the range.

I prefer the Warren Tactical sights on my Glocks. Plain black rear with tritium front. I just got a set of the Warren Tactical Sevigny Carry sights for my Glock 34, but I think I like the standard Warren Tacticals better. I will probably sell the Sevigny Carry sights.

I just put a T.A.S. on my 19c and I love it. I is just fiber optic no night sight but is slim and seems to be sturdy. I bought the red and the older issues of not being able to see the dot are gone. I spoke with a rep for them and next month they are planning to release a night version.

Many people don't like this sight but it is a good defense sight and you will lose some accuracy with target as it doesn't use the front post.

RED Loctite is your friend.

Fixed it for u.

Use red locktight to lock the sight in. Blue is for threads and will not hold up to the heat at the nose of a Glock anyways. I put a drop of red on the base of the sight and a drop of blue on the screw. I put nothing on the rear sights setscrew as I leave my dovetail very tight and hammer in.

Fiber Optic sights work well in low light, but offer zero help in very low light or complete dark. On a gun that I plan to use for SD purposes I won't use anything but some sort of night sight. I don't have a huge preference, the factory installed Glock night sights work fine for me.

I use the Meprolight sites on my 26 and love them. Going to get a set for my new 19 as well.

I installed a set of Tru Glo Tfo sights on my friends G19 and really like them. I shot the G19 w/ new sights and then shot my G17 w/ stock and really like the Tru Glo sights and they are night sights to boot! The ones I installed are the green fiber optic tubes and I would get them over the other colors due to appearing brighter during the day. I have heard that the warrenty is not as good as some of the other sights out there though.

Blue Loctite for the front sight screw is what I meant.
