I have a Glock 19 that I purchased new about 8 years ago. It hasn't been fired much -- less than 5000 rounds I'd say.

There is some wear on the rear of the barrel and corresponding wear on the slide. The attached picture show the wear on the barrel. Only one side of the barrel is shown, however, there is similar (less prominent) wear on the other side of the barrel.

It's easy to see how this occurs. There are corners to the sides of the firing pin hole on the slide. As it moves forward after ejecting a spent round, with the slightest bit of side to side movement, it strikes the wearing edges of the barrel.

Should I be concerned? Do other Glock owners see this same wear pattern? You can see it's not just the finish that is wearing off. We are into some real steel.

I wouldn't worry about it. Pretty normal wear. Not a structurally significant area.

All Glocks show wear right there but do not fret you are not going to wear out a Glock.

When I took my Concealed carry class my instructor showed us his Giock 22 (.40 S&W) He said he has over two-hundred thousand rounds through his only thing he has done to it is change a recolil sping once.
He is a retired cop and that was his service piece. I

Apply a small amount of lube where there is metal on metal contact.

Excellent! Thanks to all for chiming in. My suspicion was it was a normal wear spot. One of the local ranges offers rentals. Next time I'm there I'll check out the wear spots on the Glocks.

In about 80 years and 50K more rounds, you may need to think about replacing that barrel.
