I have a bought-new Glock 19 gen 3.

After just 2 magazines, a clear line was visible on the top of the barrel where the slide is impacting it. Now, after some 500 rounds through the gun, the finish is entirely gone in a 0.5mm line across the top of the chamber approximately 3mm back from the front of the chamber.

I know I know, include a photo.

Additionally, the finish is nearly worn off in five half-moon shaped wear patters starting 3mm back from the front of the barrel spaced approx 2mm apart.

This looks like the barrel is chattering up and down in the slide as the slide moves back and so as it bounces up and down, it produces this pattern of wear.

Needless to say, I'm concerned or I wouldn't have posted.

So, "Don't worry about it, finishes wear" or "OMG, get it to a repair."

please post a pic, but from what you wrote i think you are fine, sounds like normal wear to me. my glock 23 and glock 19, got wear on it, but that is not something that i really worry myself with. that is what happens when you use a gun. My glock has wear but i don't shoot it that much, however you should see my xd, with over 17,000rds there is more wear than there is original color. from the sounds of it, this isn't something that you should be concerned with.

IMO The wear is normal, but it's a bit more accelerated than I'd expect after only 500 rounds. I'm guessing maybe the batch of bluing/whatever on your batch of barrels wasn't as complete. Nothing to worry about if the gun's functioning properly. The areas of wear are common and understandable.

I assume you've kept it clean and lighly oiled in those areas? Even if you haven't, you haven't caused any damage. Enjoy your 19. :)

My 19 did that as well with a similar round count. I don't think that it is anything to worry about.

That is totally normal, the blackening treatment is wearing from friction, but the Tennifer finish is not going anywhere, you can buff all that black off the gun any time and it will be just as well protected as if it just came out of the factory.

I'm guessing this is one of your first pistols? They wear like that, the real finish is one that penetrates the metal on Glocks, so as long as you haven't removed a significant amount of metal it will still be the same as factory new.
