So I recently purchased a new GLOCK which I have avoided for a long time do to the trigger safety's appearance.

I shot 200 rounds through it for the first time and found the the safety when depressed is not even with the trigger and causes pain because of its width. Is this common or is my safety sticking out too far?

It's common but an easy fix to make it flush, it is plastic after all.

Once you get a callous built up, and the pain goes away, you won't notice it so much.

I thought I had a piece of steel shaving stuck in my trigger finger for a long time after I bought my first, last, and only Glock years ago.

BTW: I think thats why they make Springfield XD's, SIG's, S&W's, Colt 1911's, etc.

The seemingly monstrous group of GLOCK fanboys will tell you you're crazy, but the GLOCK I shot (22, I believe) did that same thing to me.

I now own 2 XD's with over 2000 rounds through each and not one single hiccup. So much for GLOCK perfection, huh?

Shoot it, you'll get used to it. 1911s aren't immune to trigger finger irritation either. Use a trigger with a serrated face, or one with a hole for an overtravel stop, and fire hundreds of rounds in one session.....your finger will get irritated. It'll toughen up after a bit and you'll be good to go.

I shoot a lot of guns and use my hands in tough environments quiet a bit, and more calluses are not what I need. I went ahead and popped a Dremel wheel in there and flushed up the trigger safety with the trigger when its fully depressed. I tested it thoroughly yesterday and worked fabulously.

Thank you for your help.
