I was just about to order a G 34 from a local gun dealer about two months ago, when I happened to run across a copy of Glock's new 2015 buying guide. One of the first articles in the new 2015 Buyer's Guide announced Glock's intention to start offering four pistols in 2015 in what they refer to as "MOS configured"; confusing things for me is the fact that the G 34 I was ready to order is one of the four pistols that are going to be "configured" for the easy mounting of a red dot reflex sight.
Inasmuch as I had already been considering the possibility adding a red dot sight at some point anyway, I decided that I would stop by the local gun shop and attempt to find out if they could tell me how long it might be before the new G 34 MOS pistols would be available.
I stopped at the gun shop today, and this is what I found out: absolutely nothing! zero, zip, nada! I really like this one young fellow at the shop, and he has always been extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and very patient. He explained that they have already ordered 25 of these pistols which will have the slides milled for mounting a red dot, and that they have NO IDEA when to expect them to be delivered, or even how they would be priced; It has already been my experience that anything that is "just coming out" or is "new" even if the "change" is very slight, is always priced higher than what it replaces; when I asked about this, he again told me that Glock has given them no information what-so-ever! He said if he was to venture a guess, that he would probably "guess" about an additional $50 or so.
Fortunately, I'm in no hurry, I'm patient, (up to a point), but there is a limit to my patience. I dug out the new 2015 buying guide when I got home today, reread the article about the four pistols that are going to be offered with the milled slides, and on rereading it, I noticed that the MSRP on all four pistols is listed in the guide as $699, so It's apparently not going to be all that much more than it was last year.
Does anyone here have any information about this? I have already found Glock's on-line tech support to be VERY "tight lipped" and extremely "brief"! Does anyone happen to have a friend or neighbor who is a "big shot" at Glock USA that isn't quite so "tight lipped"?
