I was just about to order a G 34 from a local gun dealer about two months ago, when I happened to run across a copy of Glock's new 2015 buying guide. One of the first articles in the new 2015 Buyer's Guide announced Glock's intention to start offering four pistols in 2015 in what they refer to as "MOS configured"; confusing things for me is the fact that the G 34 I was ready to order is one of the four pistols that are going to be "configured" for the easy mounting of a red dot reflex sight.

Inasmuch as I had already been considering the possibility adding a red dot sight at some point anyway, I decided that I would stop by the local gun shop and attempt to find out if they could tell me how long it might be before the new G 34 MOS pistols would be available.

I stopped at the gun shop today, and this is what I found out: absolutely nothing! zero, zip, nada! I really like this one young fellow at the shop, and he has always been extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and very patient. He explained that they have already ordered 25 of these pistols which will have the slides milled for mounting a red dot, and that they have NO IDEA when to expect them to be delivered, or even how they would be priced; It has already been my experience that anything that is "just coming out" or is "new" even if the "change" is very slight, is always priced higher than what it replaces; when I asked about this, he again told me that Glock has given them no information what-so-ever! He said if he was to venture a guess, that he would probably "guess" about an additional $50 or so.

Fortunately, I'm in no hurry, I'm patient, (up to a point), but there is a limit to my patience. I dug out the new 2015 buying guide when I got home today, reread the article about the four pistols that are going to be offered with the milled slides, and on rereading it, I noticed that the MSRP on all four pistols is listed in the guide as $699, so It's apparently not going to be all that much more than it was last year.

Does anyone here have any information about this? I have already found Glock's on-line tech support to be VERY "tight lipped" and extremely "brief"! Does anyone happen to have a friend or neighbor who is a "big shot" at Glock USA that isn't quite so "tight lipped"?

These guns are out now, I just saw a new G-34 MOS at an LGS about a week ago, they are going to sell this gun by the truckload. This is the way to go if you want to mount an RMR sight to a G-34.

I'm getting the MOS version on any long barrel Glock, even if I don't plan on the RMR sight. They come with a cover plate.

I see a G40 10mm MOS in my future if it's as slim as the G41.

They have been spotted in the wild. Being in your position, I'd wait it out (weeks, or even if it took 2-3 months) unless I had a trusted source lined up to make the cuts for me.

3-gun & match shooting....

As more & more new gun owners get into the shooting sports & 3-gun events, more Glock MOS/M&P CORE will be sold.
I like the M&P CORE .40 & the Trijicon RMR(duel illumination). I don't plan to shoot at contests or match/league anytime soon but I like the M&P Pro CORE design(5" barrel) & it's safe engineering.
The Glock MOS 41 .45acp looks cool too but that would be a safe queen or collector gun more than anything.

Glock's Four MOS Pistols For 2015

JDR; Thanks for that! (It's helps to hear that my "reasoning" is on-track! )

Zerodefect; Re: cover plate; roger that! The guy at the gun shop was showing me a FN (I think it was ) that was milled and had a cover plate on it ); he also noted that Glock was probably one of the last major makers to adopt the idea of milling the slide for easier RMR attachment.

psyopspect; I suppose I could probably find the G 34 someplace else possibly a little sooner, but I really like the folks who own the gun shop in Terre Haute, and I want them to make a buck from my purchase for all of the help they have given me. Then I'll probably go on-line for the red dot sight and another few "goodies" that I have in mind. And Re: the new G 40; The article in Glock's new 2015 Buying Guide goes into great detail about the G-40, and exactly what they changed and why.

Rusty Shackelford; "I like the Trijicon RMR" So do I! And I also like the ones from Aim Point and a few more! (but at my age, I'm too poor to buy one! ) I'll probably "make do" with a Burris Fast Fire 3 MOA to start off with; And about 90% of my shooting will be in the big "gully" right behind my house where I have a personal rage set up. ( Or anytime someone with evil intent attempts to invade my home without being invited. ) I'm not a gun collector; I'm just a "mind my own business" senior citizen with a great wife, two cats & two dogs that I have every intention of protecting from any and all harm, and I'm getting a little to "senior" to depend on doing it with my hands any longer.

I want to thank each one of you fellows for taking the time to share your vastly greater knowledge of hand guns with me and know that I really appreciate your help.

$, Trijicon .....

I hear you loud and clear about the Trijicon RMR. :D
I'm not "flush with cash" either but would like the no battery Duel Illumination RMR. I've read mixed reviews of the different versions but they all seem to cost the same.
For security work in low light conditions I might add a Surefire X300U. That would add a significant amount of weight but the M&P CORE Pro/L .40S&W should be able to handle it.

Hey Charley C;

I just PM'd you with the address & tel. number of the LGS that had the G-34 MOS. No word on availability of the Glock 40 10mm, every handgun hunter in America is going to want to check out one of these!
