Gloss or Satin?

My father loves restoring the wooden stocks on guns. I am having the stock on both my sks's redone and are currently glossy. He thinks that they would look better as a satin finish instead of gloss. What's your opinions guys? I have never seen a satin sks so dont know what look to go for.

On an SKS...satin....on a bolt gun I love my gloss like the Weatherby and Remington BDL

For an SKS, I'd probably go satin.

But my favorite is a high gloss stock with some nicely polished bluing!
