I know that most of you guys on here are more traditional black powder guys, but still Im curious for your opinions. I have a TC hawken at the moment and I am not at all interested in shooting a round ball, I want a better set-up for sabots and heavy conicals. I know a round ball will kill a deer just fine, but I'm looking to extent my range. I'm torn between adding a fast twist green mountain barrel (of which I can't find many reviews) to my hawken or picking up the knight disc extreme that my local shop has on sale.

Do any of you guys have the either one of these setups? How does the GM barrel perform?

If you want to extend your range, and you don't want to shoot round ball, then get a good sabot gun AND a good scope. Most iron sights, especially on inlines, cannot get full potential without a good scope. My .530 round ball does fine out to 120 yards, so I suppose you are going for say 150-200 yards?

I have 4 Knights. If you want a modern M-L deer slayer I'd get the Knight in a heartbeat. Set-up with a stiff charge of Blackhorn 209 with a strong primer, sight in & go hunting.
