Going West to visit family today. Thought about stopping at Dixie Gun Works tomorrow. Apparently, they are out of FF and FFF Goex??? Shipment is back ordered. They do have the GOEX Cowboy Powder which is supposed to be a granulation between FF and FFF. Anybody shoot any of this? Any noticeable difference in .36 & .44 Pistols as far as velocity.

I'm not as worried about it in my .45 H&R Stalker carbine - just not sure about it in a handgun.

Howdy

Goex Cowboy never really took off, so Goex stopped making it a few years ago. So that is probably old stock they are using up.

I have never used any myself, so I can't tell you anything about the velocity you are going to get, but plenty of CAS shooters used it and there were no bad reports about it.

Thanks for the Post... I passed on the Cowboy powder. Did pick up balls and caps - saved the HAZMAT fee on caps. Not sure whats going on with GOEX - found another vendor fairly close to where I live that is also out of GEOX powder and back ordered. They did say they would call me as soon as they got some in. I really did not expect the post-election panic buying to cross over the dark side, at least not this quick.

I don't have personal experience with Goex Cowboy powder, but I have shot some Goex FFFG, it was an 18 year old can, literally as old as I am. But it shot just fine, and a full chamber and a .454 diameter lead ball in my Remington New Model Army made for a really nice load.

If you can get real black powder, I recommend you jump on it. It's filthier than Triple Seven, but cleaner than Pyrodex.

Good luck and shoot safely!
