I used to head out to the range about every other week if not more often but for the last 8 or 9 weeks something has come up (2 weeks hurricane Matthew) and have not been able to go. After every range trip I would clean and reload the brass I shot and usually some extra. Last Thursday night I went outside to reload something (really did not care what) and did not have any room in the ammo cabinet.

Started thinking about getting my fishing equipment ready for a tournament coming up next weekend but all rod and reels have new leaders and hooks. Like shooting, I usually inspect and change out everything every time I use it. By this time of the year I usually will have fished for Red fish or trout 10 to 12 times and have only been once this year.

Not complaining about being busy at work but I am. Everybody needs to have some fun (get away time) and hopefully starting next weekend I can get back in the groove.

Come on Stella, get that groove back

I can relate though. I'm used to being 15 minutes from my hunting spot and private shooting area. I have moved though and am now 45 minutes from a range I'm a member at and have nowhere to hunt. It's running me batty. I will make it to the range soon enough...I'm running out of empty brass though.

West K, I do not hunt and do not like to shoot at an indoor range. The GA DNR range is about an hour from the house which is no big deal if you plan to stay out there a couple of hours to make the trip worth while. BTW, the closest indoor range (about 3 miles) from the house closed and the next closest is 45 minutes so it about the same time wise to head to the DNR range.

Know the feeling very well. Trying to cram a weeks worth of yard work and now fall clean-up in one day and still find time to get to the range. Did manage to get some time in at the range with my brother who had never shot a handgun before (mostly bird hunting where he lives).

Busy at work means job security.
"...Going crazy doing nothing exciting..." Wait'll you retire. It's not all it's cracked up to be. snicker.

I've been making it a point to do some dry-fire practice at home as part of my workout routine. It livens things up and really gets you thinking about shooting when the adrenaline's going.

We feel your pain! If not right now...all of us have been through a stretch like yours. I haven't been to the range for seven weeks. Ten days ago I'd planed a trip with my grand daughters. I got to the exit and broke an engine pulley! My night mare! A highway breakdown and a load of guns with me! Not to worry! Everything made it home. We just didn't get to shoot!

I was used to shooting every week, but once we moved back into the house after the fire it's been one thing after another. I haven't managed to get out once a month, let alone once a week, and today the ammo-fairy dropped off box of goodies... and I can't take time off to go to the range. My boss is a real slave-driver.

Spent 3 1/2 years near Savannah (wow - it's been 35 years)

Went thru one nasty hurricane - left 3" of rain inside my car, and yes the windows were rolled up & the doors locked up tight.
The summers were brutally too hot & humid & January was too cold.
Feb - May & Oct-Dec were fairly nice months to get out.

Up here in WI April thru Nov is decent shootin weather.

I was stationed in Fort Stewart for 7 years. Did my fair share of River Street partying. I used to love spending weekends on Tybee Island. Back then, it was the "blue collar resort". I imagine it's all lock out condo's by now. Sure wouldn't mind a Vinnie Van Gogo's pizza right about now....

Jaytex, been there and done that on River Street. Used to ride out bikes (motorcycles) down to Vinny's every weekend and side around the park eating a couple slices of pizza and having a beer or 2. From there we would ride out to Tybee at night. It was beautiful riding on Hwy 80 with no lights except the stars.
