Going to a gun show in a week, I was wanted to know what to look for? like GREAT deals, I really dont want to buy anything, just look. But if I find something at a good price I will want to get it. (like K98k under $170 or Mosin Nagant under $140 because AIM has $80 + ship)

I heard on another thread someone got a CEMTE for like $200 used when its worth $400+:what:
 
Jerky, sunglasses, crystalware, some dude will clean your glasses for free. If you're lucky, you might even find somebody selling sugar gliders.
 
This is like telling us you are going to the grocery store and wanting to know what to buy without telling us how much money you are taking to the store, what kind of food you like, what kind of food you already have in the pantry, etc.

A good deal. Like $500 gun on sale for $375. I dont know what is a sale or not. lol

I really dont care what type it is but if I saw a gun for $700 I think its over priced, but if it was a $1200 gun and I didnt know I lost out on a great deal.
 
Times are tough. Look for a guy who is carrying a gun with a For Sale sign. If you like the gun you can get it cheap. The longer he's been walking around the show the lower the selling price will be.

I've picked up some nice shotguns over the years using this technique.

For me, shipping + the FFL fees would bring the grand total on a 91/30 to $120. If you're talking about an M44, then yes, $140 is a fair price.
 
your question is pretty vague. sure its fun to go look but you need a modest game plan to be efficient in seeing everything. you also need an idea of things you may want and get an approximate value for it before you shop. otherwise how will you know its a deal? for example, if a guy puts a rifle on the table and says "this is a $1000 piece but ill let u have it for $500" will you know what its really worth in the 1st place?

i have usually gone into a show with a plan but igenerally just browse for ideas then do my shopping online. i have bought every gun i own online. sure its a bit riskier (especially if it is used) but there are alot of reputable online shops like buds or users w feedback on forums or GB

Hello friends and neighbors// Go the last few hours of the last day. If there are any deals to be had this is the time.

Lump several items together (holster; sling;speed loader...) You might get great deal on one because mark up is high on another. /// Don't be afraid to dicker, no one wants to pack up anything they might sell. //////

Have an idea what prices are at local stores before you buy. Hard to beat Dicks sports for long guns or Wal mart for ammo.

This (2009) is not the best time for deals on firearms or ammo overall though. IMHO

Sugar gliders? Like, the critter? Why would someone sell those at a gun show? Are they tasty?
 
If it's anything like the local gun show I've been to, look for beat up junkers being sold at about 300% of what they are actually worth. Also look forward to paying $9 just for the fun of walking around.

The beef jerky is pretty good though...
 
Just looking for a good deal? Aren't we all.

Sounds like your looking for some old cheap foreign military rifles. You may get your wish in that department. Good luck at the show. Go early and be methodical about visiting the various tables. If something is a real bargain, you probably need to be ready to buy it immediately rather than "thinking about it for awhile".

I would recommend that if you buy more than one C&R weapon in a three year period you should get a C&R license for $30. There are many gun suppliers that will honor your C&R and eliminates the need to ship thru a FFL. A purchase at a gun show with a C&R license and you walk out the door with your Mosin Nagant 91/30. This would save at least $25-$75 FFL fee per weapon. In my case the savings on my first purchase paid for my license.
 
Gun Show Massage

The last gun show here in West Palm Beach Florida they had every type vendor, pots and pans, womens makeup, dolls/Teddy bears, you name and they had it. The best was a foot massage booth where they gave the best massage ever. If that didn't turn you on there was a President Bush look alike you could have your picture taken with. The only thing that they did not have was a "good deal" on any guns.
IMO the day of the real gun shows is over. IMO the one here in August was a flop, not many people, not many sales and the least number of vendors that I have seen in years. I believe they have overpriced themselves out of business..................
 
Watch out for slick talking vendors that claim to know the intimate history of every gun on their table or exactly how many rounds it has seen. Watch out for guys that claim that any specific weapon has a special history or a guy that seems to be making it up as he goes along, he is. Watch out for anything that has claimed to be "professionally restored" and anything that is claimed to be a "rare factory variation". Assume that every price has some wiggle room. If the vendor stands firm, walk away, you can always come back a little while later. Be very critical of any claim of rarity or supply shortage. Don' t believe any vendor that has sold one a short time ago at twice the price or one that claims to be taking a loss. And never make a purchase based on any emotion or excitement that you did not have after you saw the item but before you spoke to the vendor. These things will encompass just about everything you will see.

I wonder if I can find a dealer at a gun show with a "soft spot" for these things that's willing to trade...there's a gigantic bag that has to weigh a hundred pounds full of these things in my attic.
 
The last gun show I was at, I almost dropped fourty bucks on a little necklace made of the lower part of the bullet and a little gemstone instead of a primer. How? The girl selling was an absolutely beautiful, modestly dressed young woman with the most gorgeous smile and the sweetest voice, saying hi to me, asking how my day was, etc. Wow. What a saleswoman. I had to look at her and say, "ma'm, you're gorgeous, and if I don't get away from your table I'll probably end up buying everything on it" she got a great laugh out of that haha.
 
If your really not in the market for anything, then just check all the goodies out.
There are times I go and have nothing in mind except getting a free breakfast from my brother. :)
