Oddly enough, a downwardly-plunging firey handbask
I went to the gunshow in Springdale, AR today. Some good, some bad, some positively outrageous.

Good:

Cheap plinkin' ammo. Got a 1400rd case of Turkish 8mm Mauser for $80, in the wood crate. His Romainian wasn't too bad either.
The same guy had the best deal on 7.62x39, 500 for $45 or 1000 for $87. Closest anyone else came was 1000/$100.
Decent handgun ammo. Company called CNC out of Illinois. $6.50 for 50 .38spl plinkers/cowboy ammo, and $17 for 50 158gr XTP's @ 1350fps and 638 ft/lbs @ the muzzle. This will be mom's defensive ammo.
He also had $15/50 10mm plinkin' ammo, and $17 165gr Golden Sabers @ 1330.

Lots of knives. Not being a knife guy, I cant say wether the prices were good or not, sans the $50 Ka-Bars.

HK91/FAL mags going for $10. I think that is a good deal, I dont know.

2 10mm snapcaps for $5. Online its $12 per 5 plus shipping.

Bad:

I only brought $80. And $30 of that was grocery money.
People charging more than $100 for Mosins, and none of them pretty.

1911's that look like hell going for $1000 and up. I didn't stick around for the story, but if it aint the gun that shot Hitler and its in that condition, I dont want it.

No EAA Witness 10mm mags. Ehh. It was a pipe dream anyway.

AK mags going for more than $10. One guy wanted $15 per...Lots still sitting. I wonder why...

No 8mm reloading dies. AT ALL. Nor 10mm.

No ammo cans smaller than a computer monitor.

Outrageous:

Old, old, old box of Norma 8mm Mauser going for $28 for a box of 20.

Gold AK w/o the switch. $400.

Seeing Hi-Point carbines go for $300.

$1.50 for a 16oz bottle of water.

PMC .38spl going for $12 a box when my local gunmonger sells them for $8.

THE $1800 CMP GARAND!!! :scrutiny:  :uhoh: It had a CMP sticker on it, and it looked as good as cslinger's in TN. Unless that gun killed Hitler, that is waaaay too much.

All in all, it wasnt that bad, but I didn't go for the guns either. I saw a .22 or two that I thought was worth the price, but other than that I would have just gone down the road to the Armory and chit-chatted with the guys there as I got my guns. Besides, they will sell me a NIB Bersa Thunder Duotone .380 for $200. I wish it was nickel or chrome, but I still cant beat that deal with a stick.

You might want to move $10 FAL/HK mags out of the Good Deal category. Then again, I don't need to have any Right Now, so I only tend to look at the deals... ;-)

I wish I had gunshow walkaround money. I'm busy bootstrapping another expensive hobby at the moment. (this dang camera stuff can get expensive pronto-quick)

dang. i wished we had bulk milsurp ammo that cheap...
i paid $90 for 700 rounds (guy said it was 1000, guessing he has worse math skills than i do).

every time I go to a gun show (Santa Clara county fairgrounds in CA, and the Cow palace near San Francisco), I never see any good deals on guns. I see the same, sometimes less, prices at local gun shops. I don't understand why this would be - if a dealer's at a gun show I would think that he would want to make some sales. Oh well.

That sounds like a normal Springdale show. Some good deals and some bad. It's still better than the one I went to at the Fayetville fair ground some time back.

The Armory you mentioned, is it Ozark Armory?

If Feinstein and the other gun-grabbers saw the outrageous prices for the crap I've seen at gunshows, they wouldn't be too worried about the "gunshow loophold".

I haven't been to a gunshow in ~8 yrs. They seem to have changed to more of a flea market/insult my intelligence dealie. So many years ago in NW AR I made out like a bandit buying out a fella's Case Knife Collection, then I sold it for a nice profit later.

I have a theory someone needs to try. At the Beef Jerkey table have a sign.

"One of these bags has da switch".

Think "Cracker Jacks" [tm] with da switch as the prize.

Beef Jerkey sales will sky rocket,...don't have to way what the "da switch" fits...consumer impulse will draw the wallets out...:)

Lemmee know how it works will ya...;)
