Anyone else going to the gun show this weekend at the Pasadena, TX, this weekend? I'm hoping to trade my Kel-Tec P-11.

Hope to see y'all there.

I'ma going. I'll probably just be on the look out for a Henry lever action .22lr and good 9mm ammo deals to feed my SMG. Academy has Winchester White Box 9mm for $4.86 a box, so I really don't know if the dealers at the show can beat that price.

Hypnogator, are you still trying to sell that P-11? I live in Houston and might be interested in your Kel Tec as a jogging gun. Let me know.

I picked up a Like New Ruger Single Six 6.5" for $265 out the door, other than that I didn't see any good deals. Everything else was horribly overpriced. :(

Pasedena is nice because it is $6 to get in and FREE to park. That makes it easier to justify going every time than the $16 for reliant. It isnt anywhere as big but it is still OK.

I went to the Pasadena show this past weekend, buying a blue Colt Delta Elite 10 mm one day, and a Colt 4" nickel Python the next. Both were in 98+% condition with good haggled-down prices. The turnout was slightly less than normal, but there were deals to be had, both from the large and small dealers. Two of the larger dealers, however, had sky-high prices for near NIB Colt 38 Supers and Colt/S&W snubbies. The snubbie guy had two near mint 2.5" Pythons for around $1,300/pc., plus some collector-grade Smith 19s, 29s, and 57s. It's been my experience that most of the Pasadena dealers are willing to haggle, and you can get a good deal if you're willing to settle for 97-98% condition handguns. Ed, the S&W guy, was noticeably missing. All his guns are mint or near mint with prices a little above Blue Book, which is justified.

A great feature of the Pasadena gunshows is the free parking and only $6 fee. There's generally 200 tables and it only takes 3 hours to get around, counting a little friendly jaw-boning with some of the old pros. Probably half of my large handgun collection has been purchased at the Pasadena shows, and the other half at area pawnshops - which can be little goldmines.

The next Pasadena show is 7/24-25.

Best regards, Jack B.

Good show -- my wife and I both enjoyed it tremendously. Sold my Kel-Tec for $185 and bought a new Walther P-22 for $225, which seemed quite reasonable. Saw equivalent P-22s for as much as $286. Didn't buy any ammo for it, as the cheapest .22LR I saw was around $6 per box! Got some CCI Mini-Mags and Win Super-X at Wally World the next day.

I agree that things were a bit pricey here -- Saw some of that Aguila 117-gr .45ACP ammo for $12.50/20 rds. AIM Surplus has it for $6.50/20.

Could you give me the names of some of the better Pawn Shops in the area. I live in Friendswood and we only have one in the area. It has had the same two guns for the last three years.

I have gone to the Pasadena Gun show a few times. Bought one gun so far. Not particularly impressed with this Gun Show. However, it is cheaper and probably just a little smaller than the big ones in Houston.

Sensei,

There's only two that I've bought from: Cash America - on Bay Area Blvd near James Coney Island Hotdogs, the other (forget the name) on Hwy 146 just down from FM 518 intersection. The latter one has the most guns, but the CA one is who I've dealt with the most. They currently have a standing order to call me whenever they have a 3.5" S&W M27, so don't try to beat me to it. A tip - There are several Cash Americas in the extreme southeast Houston area, and they all have guns, so look them up in the phone directory. Hope this helps.

Regarding the Pasadena gun shows and prices: I know most of the small to medium size dealers, and have bought from and traded with them, and even sold a few. So when Sunday afternoon rolls around, I generally get favorable prices for guns others had earlier passed up because they were a little high. This is a combination of knowing the guys and the timing. I've also paid high prices for guns, the scarce kind, simply because I wanted them and didn't want to chance losing one that I had already targeted for my collection. S&W/Colt Lew Horton's are a case in point.

Best regards,
