Totally OT, but I feel the need to address this.

It's a semi-arid climate. But it varies widely by what part of the relatively large state you're in. Out here on the Eastern plains, mostly prairie. North-Western part is also pretty dry, covered in sage. South is pretty much desert. But the mountains are pretty dang green, with huge pines. No lush undergrowth like the PNW or East cost, though.

Very few 12 foot trees for Paul Bunyan to use while CC'ing.

one method that i read about and have used to good effect is to only pull your pants down to your knees, then spread your legs as far as you can to keep tension on your belt and holster.

Agreed, but I like to run my belt out to the end and rebuckle it as well. This acts as a "travel stop" for your knees.
