My uncle has a Golden State Arms Santa Fe 30-06 he hasn't shot in roughly 10-15 years. I asked what it would take for him to part with it. The stock is junk and the scope isn't any good either but neither of us know what it is worth. Anyone know what they're worth?

IIRC it's a sporterized 98 Mauser. I haven't seen the thing in forever
Thanks for the heads up though.

IIRC, it's a Spanish Santa Barbara action, which is a copy of the commercial FN Mauser action. Based on a good design, though I'm not sure of the execution of same.

I have one that was my Dad's. Sporterized 98k large ring Mauser. Bought from Sears in the mid-60's. Mine has a B&L Balfour with the adjustable mount and fixed reticle in the scope. It's a pretty nice gun all in all. If the bluing and all are as nice as mine I would figure it's closer to a $500 gun.

I've looked at others on Gun Broker that weren't near as well done, so a pic would help determine value as usual.

Golden State Arms had quite the business going in the sporterization of milsurp rifles after WWII. They sporterized Mausers of all types, Enfields, and so forth. I've had several, including a very slick No4Mk1.

I'd treat it as most likely a WWII era Mauser action, since that's most of what Golden State Arms did, and offer him an 'action-only' price if you're looking for a project.

I have a Golden State Remington 1903 that I bought real cheap. I didn't particularly care for how it looked but it is a tack driver. I decided to put a 1903 stock on it and an old Weaver K-3, I now really like it a lot!

Saint Barbara (Santa Barbara) was a Christian martyr who was burned to death. She is the patron saint of people who risk death by fire or explosion. You might want to think about that when you shoot one of those rifles.;)

Thanks guys the action is really the only thing im really interested in as the stock and scope are junk it did get run over by a fourwheeler many years ago ( hence the bad stock and scope) I just hope the barrel isn't bent any and the trigger is decent.
thanks vern If I get it ill try to stay away from the hotter loads:D:D
