I am going to be assembling a sweet little16" Carbine for hunting/ defense.
I am looking to do somewhat of a bulk order of ammo. I am wondering if someone can recommend a good 60-69 gr. factory offering that is somewhat economical and accurate. IE not $1 per shell. Thanks for any leads.

Im also interested since my M&P is a 1 in 9 twist and not as accurate with heavier loads

Try a box of PPU 223 Match 69gr. They can be had for about 50cpr. They shot well for me out of a no-name 1-8 twist barrel.

My first thought goes to the Winchester 64gr PtSpt. It's real popular in my area with the AR crowd that hunts deer and pigs and don't reload). Second is the Hornady 60gr PtSpt factory load. Also, either 68gr Hornady or 69gr Federal match loads will meet your criteria.

I've used the Sierra 63gr bullet loaded in .223 (but not Win. 64gr) to kill deer with .223 and .22-250. Never more than one shot necessary and never a bullet recovered. Also, the 65gr GameKing from .223. My .22-250 with 1/14" twist won't adequately stabilize it... I've also used the Berger 70gr VLD from a 1/9" barrel (20" Mossberg MVP) to take deer (through and through, no recovered bullets).

Most of the deer I've taken with a .223 have been with either bulk pack 55gr Spt or with 60gr Spt. (My second favorite). I just recently ran out and will likely get some 62gr hp blems that MidSouth Shooters Supply is offering. However, I still have 300+ Sierra 63's, so on second thought I'll use those. Of course I have some Berger VLD's and a BUNCH of 75gr Hornady BTHP's for my RRA NM AR w/1-8" bbl. But it AIN'T a hunting gun at 13.5lbs. They might stabilize in my 1/9" Carbine...

I know this probably isn't what you want to hear... but ...

I honestly suggest you try a variety of ammo in the bullet weights you are interested in... the difference in accuracy from your barrel and the various rounds will be enlightening.
Every barrel will have preferences as far as ammo goes.

As far as economical... the most expense ammo doesn't always shoot the best... so try some inexpensive rounds prior to buying the expensive stuff.

That said, I use www.ammoseek.com to find what I am looking for... here is a search for "Any" manufacturer, 69gr, .223

I handload, and don't shoot much, if any, factory loads outside of shotgun and .22 LR..

Based on what I see at HighPower competition, If i did, I'd look at Black Hills 69gr SMK offerings.

I am kind of a "bang for the buck" guy, and tend to use what works and is affordable. If you want to try some really good (for the price) ammo, take a look at Fiocchi Extrema V-MAX ammo. Both the 40 gr and 50 gr versions have been 100% reliable and accurate in all my .223/.556 rifles, including 16" barrel 1 in 8" twist carbine.
