"Have you lost it, Shawnee? - here you are helping the man get a .30-'06"

LOLOLOL ! :D:D:D

Hey, the fellow said "...I know I want a 30/06". That sounds pretty decisive to me.

So as long as he remembers I'm not the trigger jerk who talked him into a 30/06 he's welcome to his own decision, Good, Bad or Ugly.

Nice looking rifle "Grant48". I have a savage 110e. I was wondering what scope mount/ring set-up You have on that rifle because my action seems too long to accomodate standard 3x9 scopes like Your Nikon. Thanks for any advice.

i'm not gonna put anyone down for wanting iron sights, but i have to wonder why? with the quality optics we have today i just don't know why someone would not want to take advantage of them. they make accurate shots on game & targets so much more reliable. they eliminate aligning three points into one point. if nothing else i think we owe the animal that much in making a clean, humane kill. besides, my eyes are not what they were & a quality scope evens that out. jmo

I too like iron sights. For a rifle that you might have to bet your life on, irons are a must. Iron sights are there as a back-up to keep you in the fight (or hunt). My genreal purpose rifle is a Remmington 660 in .308 with a light weight HS Precision stock, burris 2-7 compact scope, and Back-up iron sights. It's older than me but shoots .75 MOA and handles/carries like a dream.
