Good 9mm Carry Semi-Auto?

I know this is kind of open-ended, but you guys have given me great advice so far (led to the purchase of a Ruger GP-100), so I figured I'd shamelessly solicit once again

What's a good conceal-carry 9mm?

The nicest-shooting compact 9mm I've shot is the S&W M&P. Not that I'm a great shot, but it's the only 3-inch barrel compact 9mm I've tried that shoots as well as a 4- or 5-inch barrel gun at up to 30 feet or so. I've tried a half-dozen pistols. The best was the Smith, followed by the XD, with the worst being the Glock 26. Of course, this is me and my hand. Your mileage may vary. I haven't had the opportunity to try a CZ RAMI -- but I'd like to...

EDITED: The Springfield EMP was a complete sweetheart, but at nearly twice the price it's in a different market. If you have the $$$ you should try it.

Another vote for the Kahr CW9. I bought my wife one for Christmas last year and she hasn't seen it since.

With a number of 9mm handguns in my safe, I usually select a Glock G26 as my concealed carry firearm. At times, I also take along a G19 spare magazine.

Try a Glock 19. If you are not worried about pocket carry I'd at least stick to a 4 inch barreled gun and stay away from uncomfortable sub-compacts with their incomplete grips.

The CW9 has everything the MK9 has plus the problems caused by the fact that Kahr refuses to hire a real polymer engineer!!

2 years running SA XD9 svc. recently polished the barrel and front of the guide rod, and some of the lower parts. the gun cycles extremely nicely, although it was a great gun prior to my polishing. It can get a little heavy with 17rd in it, especially if they're 147gr, but I solved that with an Aker belt.

Hi, The CZ RAMI is a nice 9mm CCW platform. Mine goes bang everytime and sits in the Don Hume OWB holster I aquired for My CZ40B . Mine is the original alloy version.....WVleo

My vote is for the Kel-Tec P-11. With 12+1 and being very light and compact, it's hard to beat.

kel-tec p11. thin, light;17 oz loaded with 11 rounds of +p, adequate accuracy within 25' and inexpensive;less wallet pain if you ever have to give it up. DAO trigger will help keep down legal costs (true in CT, i don't know for sure about elsewhere). steel mags and locks open after last round. if it fits your carry style, the belt clip from K-T precludes the need for a holster and thus keeps your carry 'package' light and thin.
Kahr is very good also. but for the weight and price you can have 2 K-Ts (p11 and a p380) and more rounds.
both are good (and less good) in different ways for different applications.

CZ has several excellent CC 9mm pistols, the Glock 19/26 are great, come to think of it you really have to try to find a bad carry 9mm. Most of the mid-range 9mm pistols are very well designed.

Without further criteria available I would say that a great choice would be an XD9 in either service or subcompact model (doublestack). The Kahr PM9 or CW9 are also excellent single stack choices.

I like the Glock nines (19 or 26). If you are watching the $ check out the surplus Sig P6. Many are available in the $300 range.

Concealed carry doesn't automatically mean micro size-pistol. My two carry guns in 9mm are a Beretta 92G and a Glock 17. T-shirt and jeans and the proper holster fixes that completely. FWIW the holster is a Kramer IWB#3...

welcome to the forum, there are many great choices out there, but i will list the ones that i own, have owned, carry or have carried, and or ones that i trust my life too.

sa xdsc, and service models, i have one of each that i ccw.

kahr, i love my kahr, i reccomend that you stick with the steel framed models, such as the k9 and k9 elite.

glock 26 or 19, you can't go wrong with either one but i prefer the 19.

For me best all around is G19. I have a S&W M&P 9 full size that I may switch to if I can get used to the difference in the trigger reset. It's less pronounced than on the Glock. The MP9 with no finger grooves and slightly longer grip fits my hand better than the G19. Surprisignly these guns are not that bad for IWB with Sparks VM-II or other quality holster.

My Kahr PM9 is my second choice for when I need something smaller, lighter and easier to conceal comfortably. The Kahr did require an initial trip back for work, but since has been flawless. On that note zero malfunctions with either of the other two guns I mentioned.
