I am wanting to buy a set of screw drivers or bits to use on Colt and Remington revolvers. I have found some that I thought were good but then you read the review on the Midway website and there is a lot of difference of opinion.

what do I need to prepare myself to pay to get a decent set.

Can anyone point to a specific set that would fill my needs for these types of pistols?

I have these from Dixie. Only $34 but they have done the job nicely for all my gun stuff. Everyone NEEDS a good set of gun screwdrivers.

I did break one last year, sheared off the tip and just called up the company that makes them (can't remember the name offhand as I am at work) as they do give a lifetime guarantee. They were extremely nice and immediately sent me a replacement that I received in two days. They are a small American company in Michigan.

Can't go wrong in my opinion.

Grace, USA. That's the company!

By far, the best screwdriver set going is the Mag-Na-Tip sold by Brownell's, Inc. in Montezuma, IA. The sets are available in several different configurations, so that something will fit your budget. In addition, they are all compatible so that upgrades can come in easy steps.

Since they are offered by a gunsmithing supply house, they are made in gun-compatible sizes, they are home-grindable so they can fit nearly anything, and the steel and tempering are really good--well suited for gun screws.

I have used mine for well over 30 years now.

I have a Chapman set I bought from Brownell's for about $20-25. The tips break before the screw head gets maimed, but bits are less than a buck to replace. They're sized just right with vertical, parallel blade sides to fit perfectly in the screw slot.

I have been driving screws on guns for almost 40 years. I have used and broken more screwdrivers than I can tell you, and buggered lots of screws in the process. It took me decades to get over the Brownells Magnatip price tag. It was a big mistake to wait so long. Start right, buy 'em once - and by the way, protect your guns' screws.
