from WW2 and Korea....'US Infantry Weapons In Combat' by Goodwin & Duff..
over sixty personal accounts of veterans from Korea and both theaters of WW2...comments ranging from the 45 automatic to the bazooka and mortar...
..quick synopsis...1911...knock-down power, overwhemingly positive...most negatives about it's range.....M1 carbine..mixed opinions, many negatives about range and power(although others praised it within it's limits)...BAR...all positive as to it's firepower and accuracy..negative about it's weight....Thompson..positive about power...negative about range..mixed to it's reliability in dirty conditions....grease gun, mixed about it's range and controllability...less favorable than Thompson.......M1 rifle...all positive as to power, accuracy, reliability in dirty condition..some negative about it's weight..there are accounts also to air-cooled, water-cooled machine guns, mortars, grenades, bazookas & other personal weapons..also comments on enemy weapons of the era...good reading..
