Good deal or no?

I offered a friend $400-$450 for a Weatherby 30/06 and scope... I just wanted to see if that was a fair price for the gun. I haven't seen it to know what kind of condition it's in and really the only thing I know about rifles are two things....

1) Weatherby is a good brand (I've heard)
2) A 30/06 will drop a deer pretty easily.

The rest is all greek to me.

Am I making a reasonable offer or low balling?

Without knowing the condition and age of the gun and the type of scope it has, it's pretty much impossble to know.

Depends on what kind it is. You are throwing in several factors. What kind of weatherby is it? What condition? What make and model of scope is on it? There are just too many variables to know if you did okay on your offer.
