Good gun stores in NC.

Windy Hill isn't bad, if you're a hunter. However, if you're into evil black rifles, it isn't your kind of place.

There is The Gun Store in Lexington. The owner is very into cowboy shooting, although he keeps a supply of hunting implements. Pretty decent stock of reloading goddies as well.

Also in Lexington is Daddy Rabbits. Convienence store/gas station with a gun shop in the back. Sort of gives new meaning to the t-shirt that says "Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms ought to be a convienence store." Gotta love it.

Do not go to Pms guns, i repeat do not. i don't know what the acyronym means but me and my dad always joke that it means pay more for stuff, they are outrageous.

Hyatts in Charlotte has a good selectin but they are also known for thier high prices , we call them high dollar hyatts.

About the best place i have found is ed's gun shop, i am from concord, and it is quite a ways to drive so i call him up and have him bring what I want to the gun show, and he has the best prices I have found anywhere. other ffl dealers hate him, because he sells so cheap!I will have to get back with you about where his store is because i have never actually been there, i have only done business at the shows.

What do you mean by evil black rifles? I'm looking for a Mossberg Special Purpose series pump action shotgun. I can't choose between the 500, the 590 or the 590A1. I figured I'd just go see what they had in stock. I checked the official Mossberg website so I know Windy Hill is a dealer for them. Would ordering one from the factory cost more?

Do you know the exact address of the store's you post? If you do, tell me please. That way I can use mapquest to find the exact route from my home to there. I can't remember off hand how to get to Lexington or Concord. Is Speedy's barbaque in Lexington?

Thanks for the link MonkeyLeg. Windy Hill is the closest gun store to me so that's probably where I'll buy a gun unless I know of somewhere better.

[V4Vendetta]"What do you mean by evil black rifles?"

"Evil:evil: Black Rifle" is a left wing characterization for a militarized "assault" rifle, and while it commonly refers to the AR-15, it includes rifles such as the H&K 91 and 93, the numerous variation of the AK-47, or anything that just looks "evil" . While the semi-auto versions of these rifles function identically to any "off the shelf" semi-auto hunting rifle in the world...they must be evil:evil: , 'cause they're all black! Like Black Talons! See! They were evil:evil: too!! Hey, wait a minute! A Remington 700 Mountain Rifle w/ synthetic furniture is all black...they must be evil:evil: too! Sorry, got off on a bit of a rant there, but you get the picture. Just another example of how the gun-grabbers rationalize taking away your Constitutional rights. Oh, and by the way, Gunners Choice in Dunn, NC is pretty good place to go. Dwight has a good selection of "Evil:evil: Black Rifles" as well as hunting and sporting weapons, handguns, and other gear. PDHS in Garner is the place to go around the Triangle...Kimber Master Dealer with a good selection across the board, and 2 indoor ranges, 1 fixed lane and 1 set up for IDPA style shooting. Isn't it nifty the way I used the evil:evil: emoticon every time I used the word evil:evil:? Alright, so it's late and I'm easily amused....

Yep. 5 minutes from The Gun Store on the same road...Highway 8.
Stamey's over on 150 has better barbecue, IMO. Try The Gun Rack in Kernersville too. If ya go to The Gun Store, be sure and tell Fred that you
want to contribute to the Re-Elect Gerald Hege fund that he runs.

Lexington and Concord are both off I-85. You can get to Lexington from I-40
in Winston-Salem. The Gun Store is off exit 92...Highway 8.

Gimme .50 beat me to the explanation of EBR, and probably did a better job than I would have.

The last time I was in Windy Hill, I was with a friend who had taken his M4gery to do some sighting in. After about the fourth or fifth snide comment (mostly from other customers, but one was from the fellow who owns the place), we decided that we would find somewhere else to shoot. That was nearly 2 years ago. Not only did I find another place to shoot, but I found other places to buy my gear.

If you want a hunting rifle or shotgun, or hunting gear or reloading supplies for hunting guns, it's a great place. (Really--I've never been in a cooler gun store.) You can get some very good advice--the owner knows his stuff cold, and the customer base is a bunch of really serious hunters. But unless he and his customer base have changed their attitude ("What do you need one of 'those guns' for--you can't hunt deer with it!"), I don't find it a welcoming place to do business.

The Gun Store is at 3000 Old US Highway 52. Daddy Rabbit's is on Highway 8, south of Lexington as you head toward Southmont/High Rock Lake. Don't know the address, but it's just past the American Children's Home, on the right at the stoplight. Can't miss it.

If you're close to Windy Hill, then you're also close to Danny's Guns, 1855 Trap Hill Rd. in Elkin. I bought my Ft. Knox safe from him, and he's a good guy.

Speedy's is indeed in Lexington, but the quality of the Q has fallen since they stopped cooking with wood. I would suggest the BBQ Center on Main St., or Lexington BBQ on Business 85/Highway 64. Or if you want to go up 64 towards Mocksville, the Tar Heel Q is pretty good.

Check out Jimmy's BBQ and also the old honeymonk's place.

Me & Speedy's have a sentimental relationship. When me & my dad used to go truck-driving we would stop there on the way to get a hotdog. Going anywhere else would feel wrong.:D

Hyatt's Gun Shop in Charlotte does have higher prices, but they will haggle. It really helps to be bring in cash when bartering with them.

The owner (Larry Hyatt) is a great guy. I went in one afternoon on my lunch break looking for a silicone-impregnated cloth. Larry didn't have the brand I was looking for so he gave me another one off the shelf, free of charge. All he asked was that I let him know how I liked it.

It helps that several employees there are members of our local gun club too ;)

Shooters Express in Belmont used to be decent.

I'm curious about this statement. I'm in the market for my first pistol (G19?) and am concidering purchasing it from Shooters.

On a side note, has anyone has any dealings with Lake Norman Sporting Arms in Cornelius? They opened a few weeks ago. I went in to look but because I'm so new at this, I couldn't tell if the prices were high or not.
Not much of a web site, but it does have thier address: http://www.lakenormansportingarms.com/

I just haven't lived down there in years.Service was usually pretty good at Shooters and at times they had exceptionally good deals but as always it seems, there were a couple guys who worked there that seemed to drive more people away than manage to sell guns.
I used to go to Hyatts to see what sort of stuff managed to get traded in but mostly it was lots of not so great stuff at high prices and well,to be honest it always stuck me as sort of scummy.

Check out JR's gun shop in Albemarle. I have been going there for over 10 years and havent found anyone cheaper on their prices. He does not stock a lot due to it being a VERY small store. But he can get anything you want with in a few days. His number is 704-982-8305 and he is closed on sunday and monday.

Davi's Gun Store and Shooting Range in Raleigh is high quality. I dunno about their prices (don't know enough about models), but I've ALWAYS received excellent service from their guys there. Their staff generally know what's goin' on and are helpful and courteous.

Davi's = t3h r0xx0r.

Does anyone know about PDHSC in Raleigh, especially whether or not they have any M44s?

pdhsc in Raleigh is hard to beat on most prices, especially springfields.Shooters express prices have gotten higher.Eagle rock in Concord has been the most honest,I've been looking for a cz and told him some prices on the internet and he said his transfer business is booming, because if ya look around you can almost always get a better deal than a local dealer even w/shipping.However,at Shooters,I have bought 2 guns at very good prices-right now they have eaa witness' 10mm for around 289.00.However,Jr's taxidermy in Bessemer City will sell you any gun at 20.00 over cost plus shipping-the only downfall is they don't keep anything in stock. To give an example,a few months ago I could have gotten a new gi 1911 for 378.00 out the door.
