and grips as well, wooden or otherwise, no preference. (it's actually a mod 66 which i think looks pretty good with plastic grips....)

it seems no matter where i look i cant find anything great for this gun. it has a 4" barrel.
I'm looking for a good hip holster and some grips that aren't so big towards the bottom. I put a set of pachmayer grips on it but am unimpressed with the rubber to metal fit. plus it seems to point higher than the factory grips.

I recently added some revolvers (including the 4" S&W Model 19) to my holster line, if you can handle an approximate three month back-log right now. There is a review here if you would like to see a few pics of my Bruce Nelson style belt holster.

The classic holster for this gun is the Bill Jordan border patrol style from Don Hume. It is no longer made but Ebay has plenty of them in good shape. This is not a concealment holster, and the trigger guard is exposed, so may not be appropriate for your needs.

The classic grips for this gun are also Bill Jordan models, available from Herrett's grips, though they are a bit pricey and the wait, last I checked, was about six months. They are very nice grips, however, and are made to measure. This is a large grip overall, but is quite small -- relative to the rest of the grip -- at the base. I have several and like them very much.

FWIW, Pachmayer used to make these grips out of plastic. I have several of them as well and the fit and performance are very good. They have been out of production for years though, and are getting hard to find.

HTH!

Herrett makes grips without the silly flare. Cheap they ain't though. $98US.
Holsters for 4" 19/66's are everywhere. Any holster for a 4" revolver will do.

Check out http://www.kramerleather.com/
Kramer's horsehide Vertical Belt Scabbard is the best, in terms of looks, practicality and durability, hip holster for a K-frame I've ever used. No flap, no retention device, just great molding for a perfect fit and holds close enough to the body (depending on body type) to actually conceal a 4" Mod 19 quite well (on me, anyway). Expensive, yes, but will last years with proper care.

My favorite grips, bar none, for the 19/66 are Ahrends' Fingergroove Cocobolo. See http://www.topgunsupply.com/ (gratuitous free plug for a great company with awesome service and excellent prices).

i ordered one from kramer the other day. they do look good.
i wonder if i drove out to miami, ok, if this don hume would make some sort of deal.
