I need more shops in Ohio on my site, so I'm looking for recommendations. I'd like to know about shops that have a decent selection, great service, fair (not rock bottom, though) prices, and just overall good business practices.

Any replies are much appreciated.

Stockers Shop.

Bob Stocker owns/operates a very good (IMO) shop in Champion, Ohio. I feel confident enough in his knowledge and service that I gave my wife a blank check and turned her over to him and his employees when she was searching for a CCW. She got a Sig P232 and really likes that little gun.

Good selection of revolvers, autopistols, and longarms. Probably 100 of each type (longarm/handgun) at any given time and a good selection of reloading equipment. Three employees, two are extremely good, the third is better than a lot of other shops I've been in. Bob himself is a standup guy. I do business almost exclusively with his store now.

Dick's Gun Room, Cuyahoga Falls, OH.

Great little place that's been around for years. It's where I've purchased just about every firearm I own. FYI - it's a small shop, from a square footage perspective, but has always done quite well around these parts.

Vance's in Columbus, OH always pretty well stocked. Good service, I've never had an issue there.

Ohio Valley Outdoors, they have several in the OH area, I frequent the Lancaster store. Nice range attached with pretty good pricing there. Of the 3 I have been too, it is right in the middle. One was 6-7 for half an hour, another was 20 unlimited, OVO is 13 and change and has a yearly membership that allows you free range time. Not as big of a handgun selection, a lot more rifles, but awesome staff. One called around to order buck shot for me when they were out. Made 4-5 phone calls and had it there in about a week.

Gary's Guns & Tackle on Magie Ave. in Fairfield, OH. Gary Metcalf owner.

Gary will order anything you want and will give you a fair price. He does not charge extra for credit cards. He does transfers for $25.

They have a decent selection of handguns and long guns, both new and used. He takes in a fair number of guns on trade, and even buys guns outright.

He no longer has a booth at gun shows, but did in the past. That's where I met him and saw that he had good prices.

He kind of expects you to know what you want, which is OK with me. Operates in a "matter-of-fact" way, not pushy, no bulls**t.

Shooters Supply in Lovelend, OH
One Shot in Newtown, OH
Target World, Cincinnati (large selection, indoor range, large "premium" prices)
Costello's in Cincinnati (small but friendly, lowest transfer fee [$25] in the area)

Great Lakes Outdoors in Middlefield. Moderate selection, not as big as Fin Feather Fur or Vance's and Buckeye Outdoors but very good prices comparable to them. Become a regular and you might get some breaks. Also archery.

For Anschütz stuff, Champion Shooter's Supply in New Albany. Very good prices on guns and high end .22 lr ammo.

Yep.. Vance's Shooters Supplies is a great place. The best around. I bought quite a few guns from there last year. I love their used gun 30-day warranty and their layaway plan.

Also Vance's sister store Buckeye Outdoors just east of Columbus in Hebron.

And I enjoy stopping at Nortons on my way to the Delaware State Park shooting range. It's up on Rt.229 just off 23 a mile or so south of Waldo. Norton's is like 1/8 mile west of 23, the range is about a mile or so east of 23. Good people, layaway, good service.

Gander Mountain in Reynoldsburg is pretty good. But the store in Hilliard is not quite the same.

Black Wing Shooting Center in Delaware is okay.

The Powder Room in Powell has a nice indoor range.

Beside Champion in New Albany, there is also the New Albany Shooting Range just north on 62.

I like Kames near Canton, Ohio. I buy most of my guns there or at shows.

When I visit my brother in Reynoldburg I like going to the New Albany Shooting Range, Gander Mtn. and Vances as well.

Aumiller's in Westerville is a nice shop. I've never actually purchased a firearm there personally, but I've bought a lot of reload ammo for some oddball firearms in my collection from him.

Vance's get a big second (well, third by now!) from me, as well. New Albany is good as well, I did my Ohio CHL course there. Their range is nice too.

+1
On Kames in North Canton. Main Person to ask behind the gun counter is Steve.
Prices on most guns, are at, or around the prices you'll find at Bud's Guns online.

How has powder room been since the change of management? (at least I had hear they were under new management/ownership. Someone correct me if i am wrong.)

I liked it for the price and the 18+ policy. Last year I was 21, but several of my friends weren't, so Powder Room was the only range I could take them.

It was a decent place on the non-busy days. Then I got spoiled by places Like New Albany and Ohio Valley.

To each his own...
