So I put a sig 229 on layway (actually one for my overseas brother too) in light of my 21st birthday in April.

Anyway that same day my friend had been searching for an equinox and the shop had a lightly used one. After shooting and playing with his I am itching for some black grips (not the same, better if possible, competition :D).

Been looking and hogue doesn't really have what I'm looking for, web searches turn up niche manufacturers (usually S&W or Cowboy guns) so I was hoping someone on here might have a good source, and the THR search function didn't turn up anything either (to my surprise). I don't mind a wait as the gun will work just fine without them.

Thanks in advance,

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I just bought Hogue checkered coco bolo grips for my 229.

Unfortunately, they are much thicker than the factory black grips.

Are the Sig factory wood grips as thin as the factory plastic?

And, if so, anybody want to buy my Hogue grips?
