A man I duck hunt with heard that I was going off to gunsmithing school next month, and decided to give me his old shotgun. He's 92, and he bought this gun brand new when he was 12. Its a Montgomery Ward & Co Western Field. Its a 12 Ga, and he said he has killed more ducks with that thing than he could ever count. Its in decent shape, nice and tight but the finish is obviously worn as it was used in a duck blind for years. Its got 32 inch tubes, and I'm assuming it has full chokes, but I will measure that tomorrow.
Anyways, this guy really loves teal, and he told me that I have to give him 2 teal in exchange for the gun, since it has 2 barrels. So my question is, can I shoot that Impact non-toxic stuff in this gun? I know the steel/full choke thing is a problem and don't plan on ruining this gun. They make all that super expensive non toxic stuff now, and was wondering if any of it would be safe in a 70 year old gun.
Thanks

+1 on the bismuth

I have used both bismuth and matrix (tungston polymer shells made by Kent) in my older double guns with absolutely no problems. I get better performance out of the matix shells.
