Knowing little about scopes I up graded my scope that came with my Winchester 70, 223
The scope that came with it was a centerpoint variable from 4 to 18 power. The 3 to 9 x seemed ok, but 12 to 18 was almost useless.
So I got a Carl Zeiss 3x9 wow what a difference, Day and Night.
