Got a Sig p229!

As far as the decocker goes, who cares if you have to adjust to reach it? Just leave it alone until you're 100% sure that you're done shooting.

It's not like you'll ever need to do an "emergency speed decock" in a gunfight... :scrutiny:

I finally got to shoot the Sig today. I LOVE this gun! I can't get over how accurate it is. I fired about 100 rounds of Winchester flat point .40 ammo through it today with 0 malfunctions. I am very pleased. I will post a picture of my target tonight. It was about 35* F and windy so I'm sure that didn't help(I couldn't feel the trigger after a while). I did however have one problem with the gun; the slide did not always lock back when empty. I think the plastic piece inside the magazine might stick down a little sometimes therefor not activating the slide catch. I'm going to take it apart and clean it out and hopefully that will fix it. A friend of mine had this problem on a p250, so I'm wondering if this is a Sig issue? He tried several different magazines in his, and it still would not lock back all the time so he traded it in for a H&K. Any info on the lock back issue would be appreciated. I'll take this to the Sig forums as well.

The slide not locking back is common with people not accustomed to shooting SIG's, but especially with 1911 shooters accustomed to shooting with a "high thumb". 99.9% chance its your thumb hitting the slide stop and not the gun malfunctioning.

If your using a thumbs forward type grip, you need to move your right thumb a little more over and down on your left knuckle. That should solve the problem.

I think you are correct. I didn't even think about my thumb hitting the slide release lever. When shooting my 1911 my thumb rides on top of the safety which just happens to be about where the slide release lever is on this Sig. I'll make sure my thumb is not on the lever next time I go shoot. Thanks for pointing that out.

Here is a the target, I had quite a few fliers and they were my fault, I'll blame it on the cold. I shot about 100 rounds of Winchester flat tip ammo. I love the gun even though it doesn't feel as good as a 1911 in the hand. It sure does shoots nice.

Just keep shooting the SIG, the 1911 will soon become a safe queen. :)

The 1911 is going bye bye. I'm going to upgrade to a better 1911, probably the Sig 1911.

I'll definitely consider a Colt Gold Cup but I looked at the Sig GSR 1911 and I was impressed.

I purchased 3 guns in 2 months. The Springfield XDm 40, S&W M&P 45, and the SIG229R 9m respectively. Since purchasing the sig, I never looked back to the other two. The SIG is getting all the range time. .I LOVE THIS GUN…

Okay, after shooting it a couple times I can see why people complain about the long trigger reset, but its not that big of a deal. I'll probably leave this gun as it is and go buy another Sig and trick it out. I do, however, shoot this gun far better than any other handgun I own.

I just bought a CPO 229 today in .357 and I got 50% off the .40 barrel. I ran a box of .357 thru it and I am impressed with the accuracy. Made even me look good!

The CPO looks perfect and was about $400 cheaper. So someone broke it in and ate the depreciation. I love it!

Yeah, the CPO's are a great deal. I bought mine from a individual, it was not new but had not been shot. I got a good deal with a lot of ammo. I need another magazine or two as well.

Not thinking I guess-not realizing it came with 2 mags I bought another. So now I have 3. Ah, the more the better. Now to stock up on .357

I am very happy. I almost bought an FN 57 but I just couldn't part with $1K for it.
