Ok, The sellers fault then, not the NICS.

Define the "Instant" part for the world old wise one.

If you would Google FBI NICS you would know the answer and be just as wise as the rest of us.
Or
You could do a search here in THR where NICS is explained weekly.
Or
You could ask any gun dealer who has ever used FBI NICS......dealer makes the call and they will give him a status (Proceed, Delayed or Denied) immediately.

Congrats! You are now one of over 700,000 Americans who have been denied a purchase! That number is growing by over 100,000 per year. Less than 50 people were charged for illegal purchases. The gov't claims each denial as a victory to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people like you and 700,000 other Americans.

You can thank the new and improved NICS system created after the Virginia tech shooting.

Most people on this board paid to help pass that new "improved" system.

While you can usually attribute every federal requirement as the fault of the antigunners, the FBI NICS IMPROVED the previous system which mandated a waiting period while your local PD ran a background check.

By what standard of measurement do you consider preventing over 100,000 purchases per year an improvement (a number that is going up each year)? When those charged for illegal making purchaces has not risen? (less than 50 per year)

That means the other 99,950 Americans were illegally denied a civil right by this system.

Increasing that number is an improvement?

The previous system mandated a five day waiting period while your local PD ran a check.....they could deny you just as easy as the FBI.

If you want to go back to the five day mandatory wait, then move to a state that still does that crap. I won't.

That math would hold up under scrutiny only if all 99,950 actually appealed their denials and had said denials reversed.

Denials fall into three categories:

1. No appeal filed.
2. Appeal results in the denial being upheld.
3. Appeal results in the denial being reversed.

For sake of discussion I'd say the denials which were reversed means those folks were delayed a civil right, not perfect, and I'm not saying that's right (I'm authorized to pontificate, I was one :)).

The denials that were upheld, who knows? I'm guessing these folks either just had no idea they were prohibited or they'll hire a lawyer and fight to clear the record.

Those who choose not to appeal may do so for many reasons including too busy, too broke, they were just testing to see if that felony really stuck etc.

Bottom line is, in the same way the FBI NICS should not claim victory for all denials, neither should it be assumed all those denials were unwarranted.

immediately "Delayed" for 30 days without cause.

Guilty until proven innocent, what a great system.

Do the math for me...............no wait, I get it, government social parasites can do no wrong.

I understand your position, I just live in a different country, the USA.

Dramatic, but not accurate.
If you are "Delayed" there IS cause. The NICS check returned potentially disqualifying information. This could be due to several factors.

You haven't done much reading from the links posted but I'll give you a hint...a DELAYED response from the FBI NICS carries a 3 day delay.....not a 30 day delay. If you got a 30 day delay it isn't coming from the FBI NICS.

Your unhappiness with FBI NICS seems to be due to not understanding anything about it.

Dogtown Tom is a well-respected, knowledgeable poster here who is not trolling in the least. When you are post false or inaccurate information, and are called on it, it doesn't make the person making the call a troll. There may be trolls in this thread....but DT isn't one of them.
