Here it is! Traded a Mauser model 66 and $600 for this 1940 S/42 all matching (including clip), Luger.

It's in superb condition and I can't wait to shoot it!

Let me know what you think, here are the pictures:

Thanks everyone! I would suggest getting one whenever possible for a number of reasons:

1) Price: Lugers are expensive now, and I think they will continue to go up because people keep buying them. There was like a 200% price jump in late 2007, now you will pay a premium. (I got lucky and traded a rifle I didn't want)

2) Collectability: A luger is a highly-collectable gun, that can also be used as a plinking weapon for cheap, if yours is in 9mm, .30Cal Luger is a different story, haha.

3)History: Lugers may not be the most reliable compared to a Glock or Sig, but the Luger has the historical value, especially if you've got Nazi proofs.

I always wondered why some enterprising company didn't pick up the Luger and Broomhandle designs, then offer modern reproductions.

That said: REALLY, REALLY WANT.

Beautiful!

I don't mean to alarm you, though, but that gun may, and I mean, may, have been refinished. The take down lever is in the white and the safety marking should be painted(?) Was Mauser still using strawed parts in 1940?

Anyway, I only know a small amount about these guns and there are so many Luger variations that anything's possible.

I remember seeing somewhere that Mauser stopped "strawing" parts in 1937. I could be wrong.

Awesome pistol, no matter what.
