I just walked into my hair cut/dresser place and the hair cut guy asked if that was a gun under my shirt! I was wearing a Milt Sparks VMII with a nice short sleeve button down shirt tucked. I said it was and he said that he has never heard of anyone "holstering up" for a hair cut. I said "well you don't wait until you fixin to get into a wreck before you put your seat belt on do you?" We shared a good laugh

Sounds to me like he is one of the more observant people out there as other posts have suggested.....kind of like most of us here.

If that were to happen at my barber shop he and his son would have asked to see it and pulled out there own firearms for show and tell......they are VERY pro-gun and conservative. They give a nice haircut and for $5.50 the conversation and entertainment factor is unbeatable.

This was an interesting post to me b/c I too carry a VMII (SA 1911) and sometimes use the tuckables.

carry

Probably I carried since I was 18. 67 now. Only in the last 10 years or so I can carry with a permit The early years no one seemed to pay much attention . But with the states all going or trying to so called legal carry , which is ok I guess, I do, People seem to be more aware ...........MUTT

About 12 years ago I was carrying a .25auto in a cheap IWB holster. As I was leaving a large chain drug store it fell out right in front of the store manager. As he was crawling over the counter to safety, I picked it up and said "I gotta get a better holster" . Calmly walked out the door and beat feet for my car parked around the corner. For about a month I expected to see local LE at my front door but nothing came of it. Needless to say, I went to a different drug store for a while, and got a better holster.

One time while I was at work I noticed a man paying for his item with his wallet yet he had a fanny pack on. The pack was drawing alot of weight and he pulled the wallet from his back pocket. As he was walking out I said "what piece are you carrying" lolol he looked as if he'd seen a ghost. He mumbled "what do you mean" with a pause, then "a SA 1911 fullsize" to which I responed with that was the 1st 1911 I ever bought and how much I loved it and he went on his way to his family that was walking out. It was quite amusing.

BTW I told him the wallet gave it away.

My barber is one of the few people in my community who knows I carry, too. It started one day when I commented on all the gun rags on his end table and led to him broaching the topic of CCW first. For over a year now, his is a place where I can go in and put my cover garment on the coat rack and open carry fairly relaxed. More than once we've brought in new acquisitions to show eachother.
