Heres one for you. When I moved to Arkansas 3 years ago I went to get my hair cut at the local barber shop. Noticed a box of ammo on the counter and asked about it. The barber said its for a Mosin. I asked what that was( I was new to Mil-Surps) he proceded to reach behind a door and hand me a rifle. Well it so happens that the barber shop was in the front and a gun shop was in the back. I got to look at guns and get my hair cut. Asked if he had any Makarovs, He pulled one out of his pocket. I love that place. Anyway, wondered if anyone else had ever seen any not your everyday gunshops.

WOW! I've cut my own hair for nearly 10 years, but I'd pay for a haircut in a shop like that.

"Gimme a 1/4 inch all over and hand me that shotgun news"

Hairdresser, coif thy self? :what:

Ed, aren't you concerned that some of those guys might have a hair-trigger? :p

OK, apologies all around, but I couldn't resist!!

Cheers,

In the wife's home town there is a shop called Red's guns and crafts. Only place I know of where you can get an SKS and some knitting yarn.

"yeah Red, give me that AR15 and some black yarn, the old lady's knitting me a tactical sling"

Back around 1991 I was in Colorado Springs. I used to pick up T shirts from Harley shops. I got one from a place called "Shooters N Scooters:.

The barber shop I used to patronize in Hillsboro, OR is like that. The first time I sat in the chair, there was a box of ammo on the counter, along with some loose rounds.
Ended up talking about milsurps, too.
And one or two of the barbers are former jarheads like myself.
Not bad haircuts, either.

All through the eighties my barber here in the Pentagon was an avid milsurp collector/shooter. His greatest joy was the M1 Garand he got through CMP. He was a naturalized American, BTW, from Greece.

What is it with these barbers and guns? :scrutiny:

I used to go to a gunshop outside of Orlando called Ken's Guns and Florist. He claimed to specialize in shotgun weddings. He also sold Bernard Goetz his subway guns.

My barber is heavily into guns, and the shop is filled with gunmags. His clientele is judges, lawyers, FBI agents, me, investigators, police officers, detectives, etc. It's great to sit around and talk guns.

I take him shooting at my club every Thursday.

:)

Er, well, my local gun store is in the corner of a sporting goods store. Does that count? No? Oh well.

I saw one in I think...Bailey, CO called ATF

Alcohol, Tabacco, and Firearms! Sold all of your party suppies, in one spot!

My barber and his wife have a small shop about 3 minutes from my house. He's an avid hunter, with both gun and bow, and there are plenty of pictures in his "stall" attestng to that. For years, I've brought plenty of copies of already-read gun and knife magazines to add to their reading choices.

About a year ago, he decided to open a small shop for himself close to where he lives, which is about 45 minutes from me (in Alvord, TX). He figured by opening his own shop, he could spend more time hunting a turkey or two during the day, as opposed to driving (can't fault thim there :D ). As a result, I'll sometimes drive all the way out there to get my hair cut, or I can arrange to see him in his old shop, where he'll work for two Mondays a month.

Except for the long drive, I actually prefer his new place. No one in there but a bunch of guys (who really don't mind if you want to discuss guns), and if you have to wait long, he has a couple of whetstones to sharpen your pocket knife! You don't see that in many "unisex" salons. geegee

There's a store in Santee, SC that's a sporting goods/gun shop on one side, and the other part of the building is a video rental store. There's a doorway connecting the two on the inside for employees. I guess it's so you can watch a cool action movie, then go buy the gun from the movie when you take the video back.

Hardware Stores, especially in the country. Guns ammo, along with the fishing gear, appliances, and medicines.
Even as a Kid I recall Sears Roebuck, and Monkey Wards had guns and ammo in stock....could order from catalog and have sent to your door back then.
Seen a couple of Barber shops, Craft stores, "fillin' stations", bait shops.. in fact about as recent as 8 yrs ago the local Mom&Pop gas/grocery store was a check-station for deer, not many guns displayed some ammo...until you went in to the back office. Better security/privacy ,plus he need the space up front for the hang-around chew the fat folks...pot bellied stove, peanuts and coffee...

If barber shops in this area sold guns, I'd be happy to get my hair cut all the time.
