Just checked the results for the arizona elk draw and i drew the december 6a cow hunt. I am always so glad to know when i do get drawn, it makes me happy. Havent been to the 6a area for over a decade, any tips on areas i should go scout?

i think ill likely end up using federal premium 150's or maybe some of my old mans handloads. Hes been reloading 7 mag for like 20 years and has it pretty well down to a science. People keep telling him that 150s are too light but i can think of a few elk who thought otherwise. But before i make any decision ill have to shoot the thing a little and see what it likes.

Having your dad work up a load for you sounds like the way to go. As a reloader, it's nice to have others hunt successfully with your loads.

Congratulation!

I got a late season, zone 9, cow tag.

Im going to use my little 7 again  (Rem 700 Mnt Rifle, 7mm Mauser, 4X M8 Leupold, 175 gr BTSP)

heh ive pretty well decided that im going to use my new big 7 (man that thing shoots flat) I heard that this was a good year for calf survival rates so there should be a bunch in the woods. Shoot where i worked last summer i couldnt go a day without seeing 50-60 calves a day. Even watched one cow drop triplets, kind of a strange sight.

You know that now you have a cow tag all your going to see is big bulls:evil:

Ill try to send a couple of spots for you to scout out tonight.

I luckily received my booklet from Colorado April the 1st. Deadline for entry WAS April 1st.
I hate those guys.
