I got my C&R FFL the other day, didn't take to long either. About 6 weeks. One thing thats wierd my license showed up before the info packet:confused:

I have a few questions

The copies I send out of my license do they have to be color copies or can they be black and white?

Anyone know of any compainies that give discounts to C&R licenses? (Brownells and Midway do right?)

Any good distributors to send a copy of my 03 FFL to?

Congratulations!

The copies can be black and white. Do not sign your original! Sign the copies in blue, or any other color but black. A copy of the signiture will not be accepted.

Send a simple cover letter with your C&R and make sure you request to get catalogs and email flyers(include your correct email address in the letter of course, I made a typo in mine  ).

Not sure about Midway, but Brownells does give you a discount on most stuff. Once they get your FFL copy, setup an acount on their website and make sure to check the box that says you have an FFL. They the discount will show up on the online prices.

Thanks for the info. And the not signing the original was the only info included with my license:confused: Hopefully the rest will show up soon.

I recieved my C&R yesterday. It came before the packet as well. It took 13 weeks for mine to arrive.

Youll get a couple of VERY useful books with it too. Not sure why they event sent them but the break down of gun laws from state to state is one of the coolest refferences in my library now.

Peetmoss, it's not all that uncommon for the info packet to arrive after the license from what I'm told. Mine info packet arrived last Saturday, about a week after my license (which I waited less than three weeks for).

The packet includes three books:

Federal Firearms Regulations Reference Guide

State Laws and Published Ordinances - Firearms

Firearms Curios or Relics List

Also, a pamplet of "Safety and Security Information" was included, the only literature sent that I've begun reading.

I wasn't expecting so much, perhaps only a pamplets of do's and do not's.
There's some substantial info here.

It almost seems as if the $30 actually went to something. I can't find anything to complain about regarding this entire procedure. Thumbs up (this time) to the ATF.

Thanks for the info guys. Can't wait to get my books. It really does seem like a bargin 30 bucks for all this good stuff.

Just wait untill you get guns in the mail. That is so cool for the first time.Kinda like another first time only you have your clothes on.:what: :neener:

yer screwed!

I ordered an SKS from Aim(1st CR), after it arrived i promptly got on the net and ordered another before I got the cosmo off the 1st(for the wife,of course!)

Midway and Brownell's both ...

offer discount. Midway varies, Brownell's looks like 30%. Brownell's is for "resale" items. Shop supplies and such are not discounted. These two alone are well worth the $30.00 for 3 years!!:D :D

If you have a Brownell's catalog, look at the price code on an item. If it ends in 3 letters, it is not discountable. If it ends with digits separated by one letter then 2 digits, that is the coded discount price.

Ahhh, don't have my catalog anymore. I'm looking at their website and every stock number seems to be 9 digits, as in xxx-xxx-xxx.

Typically, would general stuff like parts (barrels, sights, etc) be discounted?

Thanks for that list of addresses. I'm going to send a copy of my license in to all of them. What exactly would you have your cover letter say? "Enclosed is my C&R license, please keep it on file for the future."

The books and License do not come from the same location. That's why they do not arrive together.

DMK has given a good list. Several of those do offer discounts to C&R holders. When you call to place an order, just ask.
Numrich also offers a discount.
