Before or at 40 years old, I wanted to own a piece of property that I could shoot on and use atvs, fish/whatever. Well My wife bought it for me today, 3 months shy of 40. Keep in mind, I live in a rather populated new england state and land is at a preminum. We looked at a few pieces of just plain land. While the land was big (50-60 acres) there was no house and we would be 5-6 years away from building. We found a beautiful log cabin on 45 acres that borders some forestry preserve on a couple of sides. When we took a tour of the place the agent mentioned that there was a large vault in the basement. The old owner was a big hunter and converted 1/3 of the basement into a 'gun room.' Right there my wife knew it was serious. I then asked did he shoot on the property. He said 'sure, there is some shooting shack out on the property with electric run to it, a 100 yard range and pistol range behind it." I think my wife knew right there it was sold.

Well we closed today and I snapped a couple of pictures of the vaulted gun room. This is behind 12" of concrete and vault door. Shelving and cedar closets are not shown. It will be a great reloading and storage room

That is really cool man. I dream of having a setup like that some day. Congrats to you and your wife!

Wow! Jealous doesn't describe it.

That is pretty much what I want to get several years down the road. Congrats man, you scored well. What an awesome wife.

Wow, nice house and what luck finding one that the prior owner shared your hobby. Congrats! In what New England state did you buy?

What is the floor covered in? It looks like green stained hockey rink ice. It appears to have depth to it like marble and not look one dimensional like paint.

Congrats sir and Happy Early Birthday! Enjoy it enough so all of us can live vicariously through you!

I wouldn't even have to see the rest of the house. That could be the first room I saw, and I'd be like, "Let's just go ahead and get these pesky papers signed."

that is BEAUTIFUL!!!! my wife and I hope to build our own house some day and a vault will definatly be in order, and yours sir, is about as perfect as i could ever imagine.

if you dont mind, i am a little curious about a few things; you have 12" concrete walls, but what about the ceiling? is it re-enforced in any way? also, with it being a vault, is there any need for a ventalation system of some kind?
