Got my Kahr K9 out of layaway!

Finally, here it is. I like the heft and feel, fits my hands really well. Ironically it's almost exactly the same size as my P11, so pocket carry might not be out of the question.

This is a special edition, carbon steel slide, stainless frame. Cost was about $80 less than a 'regular' version.

Just wondering, is it new or used? I have never seen a new one in two-tone.

My first Kahr was a E-9. It was two tone as well. I can't remember if the slide or the frame was blued. Great gun. Later I bought three more 9mm Kahrs. My P-9 was junk but the other two K-9s I bought have been great. Nothing ever fit my hand as well as a K-9.

congrats on your purchase. i have an mk9 and love it. I pocket carry it everyday but couldnt imagine with a k9. i'm really starting to like Kahrs and that looks soooo nice

That's very attractive. Mine was all black. I like your's better. Somehow the two tone looks slimmer.

Congrats on the K9! I really like the reverse two-tone look on yours. Mine is the all stainless version that I picked up used over a year or two ago. I carry mine in a Kydex IWB holster. It is a real nice single stack 9mm. I think you will really enjoy yours. Here's a pic of mine next to my G26:

It's a special edition, according to Kahr. The rear sight dovetail is the 'old' design, so I suspect they had an overrun of the old slides and stuck them on the new stainless frame. Saved me some $$$ anyway. I think it'll look good with some wood grips at some point.

Hey, question. You guys notice any 'stacking' with your K9? Mine has a definite spot toward the end that lets you know when it's about to let off. Guy at Kahr insisted it has the 'elite' trigger, but just wondering.

I've noticed "stacking" with my mk9 elite 03. At least right before the trigger breaks it kinda tightens frame to slide, or goes down. Im pretty sure that it was you are talking about. I also have a regular mk9, its in the shop, i dont remember if it did that or not, but the trigger is actually smoother on the regular mk9. I just think that is weird.

The K-9 is good stuff. At least mine has been.

I do not know about 'stacking'. You won't confuse the DAO Kahr with the DA of a Python, but they aren't exactly dissimilar.

The horizontal serrations on the slide lock/release kept knocking the hide off of the inside of my thumb, but a few seconds with my dual turbo, Banks blower equiped Dremel solved that little problem.

The K-9 fits in the pockets of my bib overalls, but not jeans.

Sounds like it's the Elite trigger in action. Those are supposed to be more Glock-like, but I've never tried one. My old 1999 manufactured Kahr has the old trigger, which is pretty much right at 5-6 pounds as soon as you get past the takeup, no stacking I can detect at all.

Wait, I missed my Kahr's birthday! It was yesterday! Going to be sleeping on the couch tonight.

Anyway, all polymer framed Kahrs and all Elites will have the "elite" trigger, and all standard Kahrs made from 2002 and on also have the "elite" trigger.

Well the reason I ask, is the P9 I handled at the store had a totally different trigger feel than this K9. It was very steady-state, all the way to the sear release. Felt a lot like my P11 actually, just shorter.

Terrific pistol, congrats! To me, the K9 is just a little hefty for pocket carry. But I certainly am fond of my steel-framed Kahr pistols (K40, T9). If you've got the Elite trigger in yours (or even if you don't), Cylinder & Slide offers a trigger job that feels like glass socks on a teflon floor. I had both of my Kahrs done. I highly recommend it. Enjoy!

K series Kahrs are indeed excellent firearms. I've been carrying my K9 for what, almost a decade and never had any problems with it. Great looking K9, enjoy!

I love my K9 and sometimes carry it as a back up to my Glock. I also occasionally carry it for work. I love the two tone look.

Ryan: The K9 kahrs today still have the NYPD trigger in them.

Any Model K9093 is the 3/8' trigger pull.(elite) Model K9093C is the 1/2" NYPD trigger pull. Karh today doesn't make alot of the K9093 (elite) models even today the K9 is the only model with the NYPD trigger also. I have it in my used K9 and I am very hard pressed to feel any difference in that extra pull length, compared to my eltie trigger on my PM9...

shouldn't be any stacking in kahr triggers. they even claim "stack" free due to the design of the cocking cam etc.

that is one super looking K9. It would be interesting to know the serial numbers of the gun, as that would tell us more of when it was actually made to.The old style dovetails tells us alot also and I just find it very odd that karh would even think of putting out the model with the carbon steel black slide today. It has been probaby 8-10 years since the carbon steel slides were made.

Sure would be nice if kahr today offered the k9 with two tone finish.

Not doubting anything you stated either, just very strange that kahr would do this. You got a really nice looking K9 and if it is new as they said, you probably have the elite trigger in it and not the NYPD trigger..

There is a fella over on glock talk that bought a used K9 with a stainless slide and black frame and nite sites and his serial #'s date back to 1996. So hard telling what is going on sometimes...

edited today 3-30--09. That k9 dual tone was made in 95, kAHR HAS not mad ethat gun again. Somewhere that gun has been sitting around a very very long time. It is a really nice gun > kahr made less than 2000 back in 95. Your serial numbers I bet are either 401xxxx or ABxxxxx, if it is either of those two, it was made in 95 and not lately. It does have the elite trigger.
